Will things really change in the next few months, developmental-wise?

My DD is almost 3.5months old now. She looks at things now, follows them with her eyes, but she doesn't grab at stuff. She doesn't try to touch anything...

When she's in her jumperoo, she will accidentally touch the toys, and then just look around

Now I bought this freakin exersaucer and haven't put it together yet, but wondering if she'll even like it?

And she doesn't make a lot of noises (a little cooing, a little smiling), but she doesn't laugh or smile for long periods of time or anything

I keep hearing, "Oh wait a little longer, she'll be into everything"

WHEN? Is she kinda behind now? Chat Icon

DS is the same age and doing just about the same things.
The only difference is he is a bit more aware when he hits something and will try to hit it again. My friend had her DS in a jumparoo/exersaucer at 4 months and her Dr. told her to take him out and not put him back in until he was 6 months old. Apparently, it doesn't help develop the correct skills and can actually hinder them.
Try the playmat for now, that's what we are sticking with until he's around 5/6 months.

Try to relax, she's perfectly on schedule. Chat Icon Oh and btw exercauser assembly is emotionally draining, get a nice bottle of wine as your reward Chat Icon

they really will change i made a post about this maybe 2 weeks ago... and now she will be 4 months on the 3rd but is technically 16 1/2 weeks already and shes just started grabbing her toys, talking alot (just baby talk) shes interested in her toys alot more... the jumperoo and exersaucer are ok for about 5-10 min. but shes a biton the short side so they are a waste right now.. but once she grows a little she will love them.

Absolutely. At 3.5 months, they were barely doing anything - maybe touching stuff hanging from the play mat here and there. At 5 months they were starting to grab things. At 6 months they played with everything on the exersaucer. Now at almost 10 months they are all over the place and grab and play with everything - from their toys, to hangers, to my cell phone. When we are out they grab at things in stores from the stroller.
I know it doesn't seem possible, but the changes they go through in the fist year are amazing.

Oh yes, you will see big changes, probably within the next month or so. DS was still colicky at 3-3.5 months and had bad cradle cap, baby acne, when I look at photos of him from that period, he looked miserable. If people asked me to describe his personality at that age, I told them he was a very serious child who didn't like change. He could also barely sit up at that age even with assistance (though his head is on the large side compared ot his body, so I kinda blame that). Do you have an activity mat? DS liked that when he was young and learned to swat and grab the dangly toys.

By 6-7 months, he had become a very funny, happy baby (who still didn't like change, but that's okay). He could sit up, roll over, he was trying to crawl. He was babbling and cooing away, and could do so many things. So yes, your baby will become a very exciting little person very soon!

I almost spit my water out at that...that's EXACTLY what I say....DD is a serious baby...she's very serious, she's an observer etc

and DH is like her head is a little big....which makes me want to punch DH

She does laugh when I look at her suddenly and smile

I am getting impatient!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, I'm sure her head is fine. Honestly, in our case, DH and I both have kinda big heads, so I can't say it surprises me!

But yes, he was very serious at that age and miserable a lot of the time. But at 6-7 months, he was a little funny man and still is--though he still is more of an observer I think. He watches everyone and everything, and loves to see how things work.

I'm sure your daughter will start doing a lot of things soon. At 3 months, they are still newborns--she'll probably be a different baby soon.

I think that things will change. DS is 4 1/2 months old and he loves his excersaucer now. He has a ball with it. He looks all around.

they change soooo dramatically within a few weeks that if someone told me and not experiencing it myself I wouldn't believe it!!!!

The exersaucer is a huge PITA to put together, I called DH up in the office threatening him that if the next toy I was left to put together, me, the baby and the toy are leaving and moving in with my dadChat Icon
