Wine cooked in foods during pregnancy

I know obviously not to have wine, but what about when wine is used in cooking? I went to an Italian restaurant yesterday with DH and I think there may have been wine used to make the sause that was on my veal chop. DH reasoned that the alcohol was cooked down... anyone feel or know this to have any negative side effects to the baby? I don't do it all the time, but I was wondering...

Here is what I read. Wine that is for cooking will be cooked off. Especially if the wine is added to a searing hot pan for deglazing, which it usually is.

If the wine is used in a dish that is being baked, the high temperature of the oven will also cook it off.

If neither of the above applies then the alcohol should be simmered for at least one hour to cook off.

I look forward to cooking with wine. It makes me feel like I'm having some wine without any of the guilt that comes with drinking a glass.

The alcohol gets cooked off. Kids can eat these meals, so can you! I made penne a la vodka last week! Enjoy!

The alcohol gets cooked off, so you can eat these foods. DH gives me the stink eye every time I try to order something cooked in wine, though I've told him over and over they are safe.

Honestly, if you wanted to you are probably okay having an occasional glass of wine or beer during pregnancy, though doctors may differ on this, and many women avoid alcohol completely as a matter of choice.

Enjoy!
