Winery Tours - How much time should we allot?
My girlfriends and their SO's are planning a trip out to the wineries in October. We are planning to rent a limo, and the packages are 6 or 8 hours. Is 6 hours enough time? We'd most likely be leaving from Lindenhurst.

I would do the 8 hour. Depending on traffick it'll take over 2 hours there and back. And I like to drink, so the more time drinking the better

I would do the 8 hour as well, depending on how many wineries you are going to, you could spend an hour at each one easily.
3 vineyards=3-4 hours traveling time=2 hours stopping to eat?=2 hours

I think 6 is fine....I don't spend tons of time at each one...the most time I'll spend is if we bring lunch and stop to eat outside for a while. Also, go earlier in the day. Many wineries no longer accept groups later in the day....3 p.m. is the cut off lately...(for large groups). Why? They get busier later in the day...and they don't want people who have been drinking all day showing up late. Also, call ahead. The wineries want to staff in advance.
