Winter Running (julie!!)
What do you wear?
I'm trying to not spend a fortune but I've never run in the winter months

Re: Winter Running (julie!!)
My favorite shirts are under armour cold gear mock neck.
You can find good deals on these, at the outlets, or at ****'s.
I wear an Under Armour shirt with a fleece or a jacket - I just got a puffy-ish jacket great for layering at Target.
On the bottoms Under Armour tights are good, but I swear by the Lululemon "stay on course" tights - they are lined with fleece and are unbelievably warm - definitely not cheap tho.

Re: Winter Running (julie!!)
Me?
I wear layers. Cw-x or under armour tights on bottom. Top it depends on the temp. Could be short sleeves with jacket (the spandexy kind with fleece lining) or long sleeves under the jacket. Last year for the winter series, it was 6 degrees below zero with the wind chill, and i layered my pants that day also. Most important for me is gloves and hat/ear cover. My body always warms up. Its the hands and ears that bother me when they're cold.
I think the rule is add 20 degrees to the tem and then dress for that.

Re: Winter Running (julie!!)
I've been wearing layers, 2 lightweight sweatshirts under a warm Columbia fleece jacket. Hat and gloves of course. I end up looking ridiculous with all my layers, but it's too cold out!
I was actually wondering if I should wear leg warmers because I notice my calves feel kind of stiff when the temp is really low.

Re: Winter Running (julie!!)
I get pretty warm quickly so I do layers as well. A wicking tank top - short sleeved top - long sleeved shirt/sweatshirt - hat - insulated tights
Even on the coldest days (below freezing), it's rare that I do anything else. I don't do gloves, just stick my hands into my sleeves. On cold race days I take some old socks to wear until the race starts and I toss them when I get warm.
good socks are a must. Running shoes are pretty ventilated and my feet/toes tend to be cold quick.
under 15 or so I stay inside on th eTM
