Wipes warmer/incurable diaper rash?

So, I have been battling this diaper rash with Marron since October!!! I have had her to the doctor 3 times for it. Each time, they say it is fungal and give her an anti-fungal cream and tell us to use Triple Paste over the other cream. This clears it up but then it comes back a few days later. I had already tried switching diaper brands and that didn't seem to help. The other day, after the rash had been clear for a few days, it started coming back again. So I decided to try switching wipes. I usually use the Huggies with the red label. This time I got the Huggies with the lavender and chamomile. I did not put them into the wipes warmer that I usually use. I just left them in the regular tub. Well the rash is 100 times better today than it was yesterday.

Do you think the wipes warmer is harboring a fungus that keeps reinfecting my baby? If I clean it out with bleach and water, do you think I can still use it, or should I just ditch it all together? The thought of using cold wipes as the winter is coming just makes me cringe for her. Chat Icon I usually keep the house at about 68 degrees so I think the wipes will be really cold for her little tushie!

I'm not sure of the answer but it definitely sounds like the culprit to me. I think your DD would rather a cold wipe on her tushie than a rash...I know I wouldChat Icon

I dont think so.... but that JMO...

Could it be the brand of wipes? How are things with this kind? Have you tried the sensitive wipes?

I would try not using the wipes warmer. Get her little tushy used to a cold wipe! Chat Icon

Perhaps that is what is causing the rash. I wouldn't risk it if I was you.
I have never used a wipes warmer on either of my boys. It doesn't even faze them that the wipes are cold.Chat Icon

It could be the warmer or the wipes. I would try different wipes. I use Pampers sensitive. I have never used a wipe warmer either. My son didn't seen to care.

You can try holding the wipe in your hand for a few seconds before using it just to take the chill off, this works for us

Well, she's all red again today!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I just don't know what to do for her anymore. Chat Icon Right now she is swinging away, with no diaper on. I try to do this when it gets really bad. Maybe doing it when she is just a little red will prevent it from getting worse. I'll go today and get some of the wipes for sensitive skin and try them I guess.

Have you tried NOT using wipes at all? Using white washcloths instead?

When Emily was getting reoccuring yeast rashes we had to stop using wipes for a while becuase it was so bad that she was bleeding down there. The doctor said that some babies can just be very sensitive down there, so he recomended using washcloths with no soap, just warm water to wipe her up.

We'd go through a million washcloths a day, but it ended up helping a lot. I bought a ton of cheapo, thin white ones (my mom swears the dyes can irritate some babies too so she made me get just white) from the dollar store and this way I didn't care if they got thrown away if they were really nasty.

I hope her little bum gets better soon!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon
