Put an ice pack on the side of the mouth the surgery was done on. 20 min on, 20 min off.

I was going to say the same thing.
Also try to get lots of rest.
Hope it feels better soon!

Have you taken vicodin before? Vicodin generally does nothing for me. Percocet, OTOH, is a godsend.
Did you take the first pill before the pain started and at the regular intervals prescribed thereafter? Pain killers are often far less effective if you take them once you're already in pain.
If they really are doing nothing for you, call the doc who did your surgery.

I agree w/ kara call the dentist- you should not have to suffer in pain 24/7, you need relief. Feel better!

Re: wisdom tooth pulled-painkllers not working well...
I have never taken vicoden before..and I did not take it before the novocaine wore off...so I think that is the deal..I did take it 5 hours later & then used the ice...the directions on my post op sheet say 20 mins on, 5 off...and that has been helping TREMENDOUSLY!!
THanks for the help girls!

Feel better. Keep taking the pain meds at regular intervals -- whatever the directions say. If they continue to do nothing, though, call the doc.
Feel better.
