Wish me luck... UPDATED :(
I had my semi-annual PAP yesterday and my gyn wants me to get a sonogram of my ovaries.. (sorry if TMI)
He didn't say either way why we are doing this--but wish me luck!! I'm nervous!
UPDATE:
Well, he says I have polycystic ovaries. Does anyone have that? I am FREAKING out!! My hands and arms are shaking, I am really truly freaked out!!!
He says that if I lose weight, it could reverse itself--is that true?
I have to get some more tests done. Ugh. I am going to look for a lab.

Re: Wish me luck... UPDATED :(
If you do a search on PCOS you will find a lot of threads on it.
There are a bunch of us on TTC and Infertility that have it (including me).
If you have any questions, please feel free to FM me.
There are also tons of websites and books on the subject. A lot of it can be controlled with diet and exercise, but not in every case.

The did tell me it could cause some problems, but I am pretty regular and have not had any ovulation issues so I will have to wait and see.

Re: Wish me luck... UPDATED :(
There are a lot of us who have it on infertility.
It does make it more difficult to get pregnant because it does interfere with regular ovulation.
Unfortunately, our inability to process sugar is the real enemy. The insulin resistance causes your ovaries to produce androgens (testosterone based) which causes your hormones to bit slightly out of wack and hence, usually problems with ovulation and conception and often weight gain. It is crucial that you lose weight. Women with PCOS also suffer from higher rates of heart disease and stroke.
DO NOT FREAK OUT... it can be treated with meds, exercise and especially important a change in diet. Diet and weight loss are key though.
It was hard... I cut out a lot of "yummy" but really food that act as "poison" to our bodies.
After seeing two fertility doctors, a radical change in diet, many failed inseminations and one round of IVF (total 17 months trying and 11 months of treatment)...
I am pg with twins.
This is unfortunately becoming a very popular syndrome these day and there are many books out on it.
Please feel free to FM me or any of the other girls on the infertility board about it.

Re: Wish me luck... UPDATED :(
I'm sorry. I don't know anything about PCOS, but wanted to give you some virtual hugs. I'm sure it's scary to get a call back after a PAP. I hope it's something that can be easily treated!

Thank you so much!!! YOu have made me feel so much better!!!
I am very motivated now to get my butt to the gym tomorrow and sign up!!!!!!!!! Maybe even this evening!! I really and truly hope that I can lose the weight--what an awful thing to happen, because it's my fault that I'm overweight in the first place.
I am going to the lab tomorrow. Cross those fingers!!

Oh don't blame yourself. I have PCOS, and I'm at an average weight. I could excersise more. My point is, is that it affects all shapes and sizes of women. The good news is that it's treatable. Good luck with everything!
