wishing i had some preggo friends/family
As my weeks increase, i cant stop thinking that I will be having this baby and wont have any friends or family that will have small children. I really want to have someone to go through this with and to do things with after the baby is born.
I do have one cousin who is due in Feb but she lives in Staten Island, so I know that it will basically be holidays/special occasions that we will be getting together. This cousin has about 6 friends who are all giving birth about the same time and I'm so sad that I wont have this!
I don't even have any good friends with children. i feel like ill be going through this all alone and even after, im thankful for great family and a great husband, but I cant see it being the same as another woman with a baby
I know I will have to join some mommy and me groups or something to hopefully meet some moms and babies, but til then 
anyone else in the same boat?

Gina, I was in the same boat. My one mommy friend was in NJ. I joined a mommy and me class and met a really nice mom who anthony and I hang out with her and her husband often. OUr girls are one day apart.
As for now, mabye some moms on the pregnancy board want to get together?

thats wonderful marisa! I was thinking of you actually after i wrote this, because i knew you joined a lot of groups! Too bad you werent a little closer! I just hope ill be able to join something since i think ill be going back to work in september. Im guessing there must be some on the weekends

Definitly on weekeds. Also, your local library might have programs for kids. Anthony takes Gianna for classes on Saturdays. I know the Mommy and Me class I go to does have a Saturday program.

I am definitely in same boat, being the first of my friends to get pregnant..
There are a couple of women I talk to occasionally but none that live close or will have a baby close in age.
I am hoping through the pregnancy classes or baby classes I will meet more preggos.
That is why this website is so vital to me, w/o it I would only have my clueless (in pregnancy) friends or my family who seem to be soo outdated in their thinking, lol.

i have friends who have small kids but they work full time and i am a sahm so we have never gotten together as a result
after #2 is born i would be up for something.....

I'm in the same boat - I'm having my first and I'm the first of my friends and family (at least those in the NY area - I have some friends and family in Boston, Chicago, and LA with kids but that's not the same). My husband and I were also the first of our friends to get married, which was also somewhat isolating for a time (and we didn't get married particularly young either), but this fixed itself once our friends started pairing up and meeting their matches. Now, all my friends have pretty much caught up and I know several of them want to have kids pretty quickly since we're not exactly spring chickens anymore. So, to some extent this is a temporary situation, but even still, I have some concerns about getting isolated again. I'm grateful for these boards and hope to make some friends in groups and classes when I'm on leave. Not sure there's much else to do.

We are in the same boat also. Some of my friends and family have children already but they are more like 12-24 + months already and most of them do not live near us. I am also hoping that once we join some mommy and me programs then we will be around other families with children the same age but I am also concerned because I am going to be going back to work full time in September. I am due in the beginning of July and not going to work for the 2 months over the summer so I really hope to join some sort of groups while I am on maternity leave. I am also grateful for these boards because I would have no one to ask the million questions I have each day and I hope that continues after the baby is born!

On the flip side, your baby will get to be the center of attention all of the time!  My DS has been the only kid amongst DH's close friends and he reaps the benefits. They all love coming to play with him and don't really get tired of him. With my friends, DS is one of many, so he doesn't get the same amount of attention from them.

With my job, I do not get maternity leave at all so that is why we really tried to plan on having a summer baby so I have no choice but to return to work in September. I was wondering the same thing--if the baby will be too young to join any sort of groups that early. So most likely I will have to do weekend groups as well. I think it is going to be an adjustment but I find comfort in knowing that others are going through the same thing and we can use these boards all the time!!!

You can always join a group like stroller strides. It's more for moms then kids anyway, plus it will get you out there excersising, which I know for me always feels like such an effort.

absolutely! i am due 5/4 so I wont be working from then through the end of the summer but I know i will be brining DS into the office over the summer so we should plan G2G's
we can also coordinate Nassau G2Gs (or for anyone who wants to attend!)

I'm kind of in the same boat. I still don't know that many people here, even though I've been here almost 5 years. I'm not really close with anyone that has younger kids, so I'll have to join a mommy & me group or something to meet some other new moms.
