Witching hour..or two

Lucas has had the witching hour for the past few weeks. Sometimes it starts at like 6pm other times closer to 7 and it usually doesn't end until he falls asleep. The last few days it has gotten worse and he is screaming and crying uncontrollably. (tonight i even saw little tears drop out of his eyes Chat Icon )

How many more weeks should I expect this to go on for? DS is almost 9 weeks. Is there anything that really helped your DC calm down during this time? (I have tried going into a dark room, shushing him, rocking him, bouncing him, ect.. different things work different days but ultimately he won't really calm down until he falls asleep)

For DS, that was kind of it. I did what I could to calm him. Any chance you can plan a soothing bath around that time? Followed by a nice baby massage? Chat Icon

Definitely try a bath, that always helped with DS. I would say at about 3 months he did a major turn around. Hang in there...

Hang in there! I wish I had some advice but it sounds like you're doing everything you can to soothe him. DS screamed his head off every night and it seemed like it would never end. I think it stopped around 3 months.

When I give him a bath it really does help calm him..but we only give him a bath twice a week bc he has dry skin.

Thanks girls..its good to know that it will hopefully get better at 3 months...only one more month to go haha

what time are you putting him to bed? i ask because my son was the same way and it turns out it was because he was tired. We started putting him to bed around 6:30-7pm and problem solved. Chat Icon

Try it. It can't hurt right? Chat Icon

It is totally normal. It is the end of the day and they are exhausted from all the stimulus throughout the day.

Do you have a bedtime routine? I find that helps with Derek. He gets a bath around 6:30 than we play on the bed or floor with my older son and than he gets another bottle before bed around 7:30 and than goes to sleep.

i agree here also. it took me the longest time to figure out that DD Was just EXHAUSTED and was screaming to tell me that! we would keep her up passing her back and forth trying this and that when we were just overstimulating her and keeping her up! lol
btw her witching hour lasted until she was 4 months when we finally figured out the over-tired problem!

Maybe tomorrow I will try to put him to bed earlier...usually his last bottle is around 7-7:30 so I try to put him to bed after that but I'll try to get him down earlier. I guess Im just more worried that if I put him down that early that he will sleep his long stretch while we are still awake and then be up a ton after we go to bed. But I will definitely try it
