With all of the worry about fires..thought I would share..
Last night I was watching TV, went to grab my remote, and it was scorching! As hot as grabbing something out of the oven without a potholder. The batteries had expanded, and the heat had warped/melted part of the remote.
I think about what if I wasn't home, if one of the kids grabbed it..if I had fallen asleep. What could have possible happened? Why did it get so hot?

With all of the worry about fires..thought I would share..
My son was burned by a remote when he was a toddler...he was crawling around on the floor and had picked up the remote off the couch. The remote started hissing and battery acid started oozing out of the back. (Energizer batteries at that) I had to run him to the hospital and he had 2nd degree burns all over his palms.
I never let any of my children play with anything with batteries in it after that.

OMG, that is so scary. I don't know if it was the batteries, or the remote, but you are def right, they arent going near another remote!

What kind of batteries were in the remote? I'm leery of the off brands because they always seem to be the ones that corrode and leak.

I'm now officially scared of every electronic device in my house...
Seriously though, that is scary! I wonder if it was the remote itself or the batteries that caused the problem!
