With Circuit City going out of business
Does it pay to get the extended warranties?
Are they def closing?

I don't know...they literally just built a brand new one near me but it hasn't opened yet and I don't know if it will be. We bought furniture once from Seaman's and it was under warranty and it closed. I have to ask my DH if he remembers what happened with the warranty.

It almost never pays to get the warranties. Check to see if the product you're purchasing has a warranty of its own.

they're not closing all their stores. but I wouldn't get the extended warrantee anyway.

Circuit City isn't closing all of their stores.
The extended warranties will still be valid if all of their stores do end up closing because they are through an insurance company, not through Circuit City.

They aren't completely going out of business.
Also as for warranties I was so against them but DH insists on getting them all the time. They have actually come in handy more times then I'd like to admit and saved us $$$$ with our 52" tv, a digital camera and a few other big items. The worst part is hearing him say "I told you so"

I do not agree. I had a compaq laptop no warranty in the first year I had the same problem with the plug 2 times compaq fixed it 3 months latter had the same problem It was the mother board and would have cost 500.00 to fix. Not worth it.
I got a gateway 2 years ago. Got the warranty I just had it in for service for the 4th time that best buy actually let me pick out a new one (I got a toshiba) I paid the 120.00 for the extended warranty on this one

I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It hasn't opened yet - but they are STILL working on it!!!!!
So weird, right??

Just want to update and say... My camera broke. I have the warranty on it. It is from circuit city, took it there and I have to call 1800 # to have mailed to that company. So glad I have that waranty right now Camera is a little over a year old and the lens wont go in.
