Woah! Start saving your $$ for Karate lessons!! Pics included

So...here's what happened. I went with DH and the kids to a neighborhood Street Fair and put my son's name in a raffle to win a month free of Karate lessons. Well, turns out we won. That is both the good and bad news.
Good news is- my son absolutely LOVES it...and so do I. The sensei (who is mighty good looking might I add) teaches the kids about stangers (Stranger Danger), self-defense, proper stances, counting and words in Japanese, falling techniques...blah, blah, blah...but that's JUST the physical stuff.
What I LOVED is the life lessons he teaches the kids- about eating right, respecting your parents/ teachers/ family/ friends, discipline, to never give up, to love yourself. Oh my G*d...this guy gives me the chills. He's like a motivational speaker for kids. And they REALLY listen. He's loud, and fun, and the kids love him!!

So of course, I signed him up for a year.

Here's the bad part-
It's 3 days a week (I'm exhausted already) AND
it's almost...$2,000!!Chat Icon

Ya know what though...the uniform is so flippin cute (see pics), he LOVES it...and if my son takes away some of these life lessons...it's worth it and more!!!

So cute! I know it is a very expensive sport. My brother began when he was about 5 and he is now a 2nd degree black belt. You also have to pay for the tests and certificates. Chat Icon

I'm sorry...it's $2000 for the year (calendar, not school). So it's actually alot of classes. But man...my mom used to think my dance classes were expensive when I was little- $10 a week! Darn inflation!Chat Icon

He's so adorable, and when you calculate it, I guess it's not so bad after all.

my son has been doing karate for 2 years now and although it is expensive especially since now he does sparring as well ( which is separate) it is a great program for him and well worth every penny. i pay 160 a month. it has taught him respect, responsibility, self esteem among so many other things! here's some pics. he will test for his brown belt in three weeks!!!! The name of the place where my son goes is called New Generation Karate. It is in Franklin Square on Hempstead Turnpike.
The sensei is Awesome!!!! (He's really cute too...just an FYI Chat Icon )
We just came back from today's lesson and he did this whole thing about "Stranger Danger" and what to do if a stranger approaches, and what to say, and how to say it. The kids weren't scared but took it seriously.

I really can't say enough good things about this school. It is amazing what they are teaching these little ones. It is so great for them.
