Diana Bianchi, the young woman at the center of Christie Brinkley's split from Peter Cook, may take the stand during their upcoming divorce trial, her lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, confirmed to PEOPLE.

He said Brinkley's lawyers have requested her to testify in the public trial set to begin July 2 in Long Island.

"She's been subpoenaed to testify, and if called to testify, she will testify truthfully," said Tacopina.

Bianchi made headlines two years ago when it was revealed Cook had an affair with her when she was his teenaged assistant. Bianchi sued Cook and they settled out of court last year.

Asked how Bianchi's doing now, Tacopina replied, "She in a lot of ways is a very composed young lady and in a lot of ways a young girl."

"She struggled with this and her family struggled," he added. "The way it was brought to the public's attention is not the way anyone wants to be known. It was a difficult situation and that's why she escaped any attention from the last episode up to now."

He declined to reveal where she's currently living but confirmed she's still working in the arts and entertainment industry.

"She's a budding young singer with a terrific voice," he says. "She's dabbling in a bunch of things and also trying to keep her anonymity."

Meanwhile, Brinkley stepped out in the Hamptons on Saturday evening to accept a humanitarian award at the American Heart Association's annual gala. She attended the event with close friends and daughter Alexa Ray Joel.

"I'm surrounded by so many wonderful friends, my family," she told PEOPLE at the event. "My friends have been my support. I am so lucky to have them all."
