Women who did yoga before they were pregnant
When did you make the switch over the prenatal yoga? I am 18 weeks and still doing my regular yoga classes a couple of days a week, but not sure how much longer I can keep up. I am just so cheap and don't want to pay for the prenatal yoga

Re: Women who did yoga before they were pregnant
I took my first prenatal class on Monday through a DVD on Gaiam.com. Basically the main difference right now for me (15w) is that after 16w they advise you not to do any positions on your back. I think it really depends on how much your showing and how comfortable you are in certain positions. If your yoga teachers knows your pregnant I would think they've already mentioned certain modified poses to you.
I haven't done yoga since November because the first trimester was too rough for me so I figured I might as well jump right into prenatal.

Women who did yoga before they were pregnant
I got "yelled" at by a regular yoga teacher at around 22 weeks. I thought I was fine, but she felt pretty strongly that I shouldn't be laying on my back, doing deep twists or anything on my stomach. I switched to prenatal, and it was actually great, just as much of a workout as reg yoga.

I have a few friends are yoga teachers, and my yoga teacher said it is fine as long as like your teacher said, don't strain, no deep twists, etc.
I am fine with that, but I feel like I am missing half the class because I am in a childs pose waiting.
I know I should make the switch, but I just hate spending money for the classes and having my gym membership. I wish my gym offered prenatal classes.

Women who did yoga before they were pregnant
I can't wait to try prenatal yoga! I am trying to research places in my area that have it and there aren't too many. A lot of yoga studios say they do it on their websites but then they don't say when.

I wish I could help you there. I live in Cali so prenatal yoga is plentiful around here lol. I would call the places that say they do and ask.

Re: Women who did yoga before they were pregnant
My first pregnancy I never switched over. . I found prenatal too slow and boring but I had been doing yoga hard core for almost 20 years. To be fair, I knew a lot about all the things that were safe for each trimester so I had that background training. But I went to a regular yoga class two days before my induction. My 2nd pregnancy I had not been practicing as much so really just did yoga on my own and have been doing an occasional prenatal yoga since 23 weeks.

I would speak to the instructor and see what they think. They may be able to tell you what poses to avoid and instead if just sitting in child's pose waiting for the class to finish those positions perhaps ask for a few poses you can do instead. I never took yoga until I was pregnant, there was a time I couldn't make m prenatal class so the teacher had me come to her beginner class and she worked with me

See this is what I am afraid of, being bored in prenatal yoga. While not hardcore, perse, i have been practicing yoga for years and go multiple times a week, so I really don't want sit around, but I guess that is basically what I am doing for part of regular yoga anyway.

Good idea. Maybe I can modify some of the positions.
