Wood Floor Quote
I am buying a colonial and want to re-finish the wood floors 3 bdr., living room, dining room, den and stairs would all need to be done. I received an estimate based on square footage today that was $5,700 for 1500 sq.ft. does that seem like a lot of $?

Other people here have posted $3-$5 per square foot so your estimate seems right on par with that. It doesn't hurt to get a second estimate as well.

How many sf and are you having it sanded and stained -- or keeping it natural with just poly?
We had over 1100 sf of hardwood floors refinished (with stain) for less than that. Our guys were amazing, too. My parents have also used them. Morgan O'Brien Floors.

Thanks...I gave them the sf of the whole house which was 1500sf but we would need roughly 1200 sf done. I also have stairs included...did you get stairs done? The quote included 1500 square ft with stairs and 3 coats of stain.

we had about that amount done with stairs. no stain though--i kept it natural with just 3 coats of the varnish. it wasn't even close to that amount.
we used a place in baldwin to put brand new wood floors in our down stairs. i will get the name of them from DH tomorrow. they were fabulous!!
