*no child left behind

I teach special education and am required to administer tests according to the chronological ages of my students despite their actual grade level functioning. They are not able to opt out or use alternative assessment. Try giving an 8th grade test to a child who reads on a 3rd or 4th grade level. It is heartbreaking.

Thanks Mr. President.

In theory, it should be a great practice. In actuality, it is not what it seems (at least where I am coming from)

I hear you!!! it's so frsutrating adminstering a 5th grade math test to a child who is functioning 3 years below that... it's cruel.

Maybe we should start a thread on special ed. phrases or even better... acronyms!

I used to be a coach and had to go to many deadly dull meetings. Once my colleague created a game he called "Eduspeak Bingo". We got to check a box every time a certain word or phrase was used. Chat Icon

Some included "unpack" (as in, "Let's unpack this data"Chat Icon ), "piggyback" ("If I may piggyback off that idea"Chat Icon Chat Icon) and the ever-overused "Think outside the box" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
