Work and the negative of my job..(vent)
Well i was promoted about 1.5 years ago when I had given notice to leave and in an attempt to keep me they gave me a raise and a promotion... I love my job and the people I work with - Some of course get on my nerves but that is normal - Anyway - Today I was called into a managers meeting and found out the part I TRULY hate about my job - I have to go thru the list of employees in my department and pick two to be layed off... I have NEVER had to decide someones fate within the company before - I am so upset right now - How the heck do I decide who we are going to let go by tomorrow 8am.... This is the first time I wish that I didnt stay... I am so sad.....

I am so sorry. Did they give you a good reason as to why you have to do this?I mean will you have any leg to stand on when you let these people go?

I agree and I was just thinking...
Could you look at their latenesses, job performance or how they get along with the team the work with?

It might help to look at past job performance reviews and see who's on the bottom and select from there. Also look at who has been hired more recently, whose job is easier to replace and whose least liked.
Or if you can't decide after reviewing that, show your boss the list you came up with and get his/her suggestion too. Deciding who should be laid off should not be a burden of one person. Nobody wants to have to go to sleep at night knowing that they are solely responsible for such a drastic measure.

I completely agree. Good Luck tomorrow. I cannot imagine having to make a decision like this.
