Work people at your personal shower

Ok, so my mom asked me if I was inviting anyone from work to my baby shower. I said no and she was surprised. I didn't invite any to my bridal shower because A)I was in a lesser position B) people lived too far away.

Now that I'm in a new division, I have gotten closer with some females. My company does throw nice at-work baby showers and I think it would be greedy asking them to also come to my baby shower. Also, being I work in NYC, only 2 of my co-workers live close to me, the rest are in NJ, Queens, etc. I think if I worked on LI and the folks lived close, I may think differently

What's your take?

I had like 15 work friends at my shower..

they will find a way to make it.

they also might have a shower for you at work.. my friends here did

I agree with you, I've become really close with several of the girls at my office but they all do not live on LI with the exception of one. I also know that my office will be chipping in for a shower so I would feel bad asking them to contribute to both and to make the trip out to mine...Plus I know they will not be offended if I don't invite them

I did ask a few of my very close friends from work (people that I see outside of work on a regular basis) to my personal shower. They attended and had a great time. What they did was help organize my shower at work, but I think they only contributed a small amount to the gift & party (money-wise). They did give me a gift at my shower. I don't think any of them felt like I was hitting them up twice.

I'm not having a baby shower, but for my bridal shower I did invite work people who I was close to. Some of them didn't come which was fine because they were in the process of planning a shower for me in the office. Also, I live and work in NJ, my family all live in LI, so we did the shower in NYC, and my work friends that did come came into the city for it.

Like Theresa said, if people want to be there, they'll come no matter where they are coming from. And NJ isn't all that far!

It depends on how close you are to them. For my "work" friend that was pregnant, I was invited and went to her personal shower, and I was the one who threw her a shower at work. Never thought anything of it, and would have felt bad if I hadn't been invited to her personal shower because we were close. I brought her "main" present to her personal shower, and got her a little something at the work shower.

I have one close friend at work (someone I hang out with outside of work) who will be there. I figure if we don't hang out outside of work we aren't close enough for me to ask them.

I also agree with you that I would feel greedy asking them to my shower if I knew they were going to throw me a work shower.

I invited a lot of my work friends to my personal shower. We are all very close. I know a couple of them are planning my work shower also. I am a teacher, so there a lot of people at work, who will not be invited to my personal shower. Either way, I know the girls will chip in twice. I don't think they think about it. I know I haven't when I have been to many of their showers. We are just all happy for each other.

I am very close with a group of girls that I work with so I will invite them to my shower if I have one.

there are people I work with that are my friends outside of work so those people would be invited to my shower...

I would say if you have 1 or 2 close friends that live local, you can invite them. It might be hard if only 1 of them come b/c they won't know anyone .
But, if they have a work shower for you anyway - they will still be able to shower you!

I'm only asking one who I am very close with. She won't be able to come anyway because her due date is 4 days before the shower!
