Re: Working and being pregnant

I have been working anywhere from 43 - 48 hours per week but this week decided that I need to reduce it. I am at 33 weeks - almost 34 and between the long commute from LI to NYC and the walking I am starting to get uncomfortable. I am back trying to cut back to 40 hours per week and to actually get out for the 1 hour lunch.

Re: Working and being pregnant

27 weeks, I work 40-50 hours. I just get really tired, especially if I don't take my vitamins. I also work at least one weekend a month with reserves and go to school so all of this is a real struggle.

Re: Working and being pregnant

I work 40-42 hrs/week, I am 36 wks 2 days. I sit at work, which helps but it is getting uncomfortable and tiring.

The "worst" part is my commute. I drive 30 miles each way. Days w/ no traffic it's 45 min. Days w/ traffic it can be as much as 1 hr 15 min.

Luckily, I work primarily from home this time around. Last time I was at a HORRIBLE STRESSFUL place and left 1 month prior to my due date because I could not take it any more. THis time I work half at home, half in the field (I handle injury claims for an insurance company and meet with people and do investigations, blah blah). Its less stress and I can make my own schedule. I would say I work about 30-40 hours a week depending on the workload.

Re: Working and being pregnant

I am 28 weeks and I work 35-40 hrs per week. I have a ridiculous drive from PA every day that is 2 hrs each way to NYC and back. Thankfully DH shares the driving with me b/c we both work in the city near each other. It is tiring at times but I manage. I make sure to get atleast 6 hrs of sleep at night and I also sleep in the car on the way home while DH drives.

Re: Working and being pregnant

I am 20 weeks and was working a full-time job and a part-time job. My part-time job was waitressing and I just gave that up this week. They all said I was doing fine, but I felt so slow and stupid trying to carry all that food. I hope to work my full-time job until my water breaks. We'll see.

Re: Working and being pregnant

I am 10 weeks and totally exhausted. Right now I only get in about 20-25 hours and I am literally unable to do more. As it is, my DH has to come get me at my office because driving home so tired was a nightmare. I have flexibility to cut my hours but the stress of falling behind is tough on me. I hope to increase hours again in the 2nd trimester. This is not what I expected to have happen.

My bosses have been very flexible so I work 32 hours a week, four days as opposed to five. I really would like the 5th day back even though my body really need the day off-I want to put money away for maternity leave though Chat Icon

I am 16-weeks and I work 45+ hours per week, and if I take any time off, I have to put in for it, even if it's an hour later to work because of a doctors appt. Chat Icon

I'm 15 weeks and work 40 hrs per week. I'm very lucky though that my job is laid back and I am 10 mins from my house.

I am still waiting for that burst of energy Chat Icon

Re: Working and being pregnant

I had to stop around 32 weeks b/c I was in serious pain. I was working P/T, but my job required me to be on my feet for long hours at a time. I couldn't handle it and it surely wasn't worth it to be in that constant pain. I also noticed that my health started to quickly detoriate.

I give major credit to the pregnant women that can work all the way through!!! Chat Icon

Re: Working and being pregnant

I'm 8 weeks and have the flexibility to work about 20 hours per week right now. During the 1st 3 months. I can't be dry heaving when I meet with clients.

Hopefully 3 more weeks and I'll be feeling beter and back to working my "normal" hours which is about 30-35.
