Re: Working moms, does it get easier?
It does (for most!) but it's something everyone told me and I never believed until I got there myself

Like I was pretty ok all day, but once I leave the building and walk to my car--this feeling of sadness overcomes me-I feel like I am missing out :( I really hope it just becomes "normal" for me :(

Re: Working moms, does it get easier?
It does. I remember my first trip home after returning in work in March. I was literally trying to propel the subway car home faster with my body. Now I can manage to sit clamly and even read a book on the subway but I still walk very briskly home from the train.

Re: Working moms, does it get easier?
I'm not sure that it gets easier it's more of you get used to it and it becomes your life. I still give my kids tons of kisses in the morning and right when I see them because I missed them so much and I've been at this almost 5 years now! I'll be at work thinking I wish I were home with them instead. I wonder constantly if we are making the right choice for them by me working. So for me the pain of it got easier over time but the emotional pull has not changed.
All I can tell you is hang in there and you will soon get into your new routine and this will become the norm to you.

Re: Working moms, does it get easier?
I agree. I dont think it ever gets easier but it just becomes what you do. This was my 3rd September leaving DD. We are lucky enough to have my mom watch her. But I am still sad that I dont get to spend all day with her. I am constantly wondering thoroughout the day what she is doing. I do know that I am working so I can give her the best and that makes it all worthwile because I am doing it for her. You'll be fine..but know you are not alone. Good luck!

Re: Working moms, does it get easier?
I am not sure if it is really "easier". I think you get more numb to it. I lost it in the parking lot of the daycare after I dropped him at his daycare.
But honestly, after 6 months and the job situation at the time, I decided to work PT only and took DS out of daycare. I am a SAHM during the week now and work on weekends and some evenings.
