Working Moms of 2 Plus....
Honestly....how do you do it? How do you manange a job, a husband, kids and a house? Where do you find the time? Do you fall short on anything?
I give you so much credit...sincerely!
I worked full time when I had DD #1 and I did it for 7 years. It was totally do-able and I handled it well. However if I had to do it with more than one kid I would struggle. Something along the line would suffer. My house would probably be a complete mess and I'd always be stressed out!
How do you catch your breath? Again...hats off to you!!!
Working moms of one: Hats off to you too! I've been there and it's not easy either.

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
Right now I'm on maternity leave with first DC, so I have no experience with working yet....can't really offer advice on that yet let alone advice for working with two DC!
BUT, I can say that before DS arrived I would look at my friends/family members with kids and wonder how the heck they did it all. For example, I couldn't figure out how they went to the grocery store, ate dinner, loaded the car to go on a road trip, walked a baby in a stroller and a dog at the same time, etc. I've figured all those things out now that I have my own DC.
I think the answer to your question is they just do it. Life hands you what you can handle and you handle it. I think it also teaches you respect....My sister has twin 2-yr-olds and I had no idea how hard she was working when they were little infants AND now that they're running around all over the place I have no idea how she gets things done. But she does it.

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
you just adapt i think. I have the luxury (and sometimes the burden) of working from home right now. BUT... its kind of hard to get all the things done for work and keep up with my 2 DD's (2.5yo and 6mo old) who are home with me plus then my 2 big DD's (10 and 11 yo) come home. I like to call my home controlled chaos!

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
I wonder this too.... I have 2 DDs and work FT and some weeks I am on the verge of break down becuase my house is a disaster and there is always so much to do and no time at all to relax. I honestly dont think I could handle 3 kids. Maybe in a few years when my DDs are older and in school things would be easier, who knows!

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
You just do it. You have to let certain things not get done, and just deal.
I didn't have any chance with just one, so I was thrown right into it, sometimes I feel that it was better that way, I don't know anything else.
My house is never spotless and I really try to spend quality time with my boys. It also doesn't hurt that DH gets home at 1:00 and is home with them from 1-5:30 until I get home.

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
I do it. I work from home but the I actually have to WORK full-time and then some. I don't have the kids home with me all day long. You just do what you have to do. I do have a house cleaning help 2x a month and that really, really helps. And I am tired and stressed out more days than not and sometimes I honestly don't know how I will manage the next day because I am so pulled between 2 World but then I really have no choice so you just figure it out. And I eat more chocolate than I should...maybe that is the key LOL

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
I have two and work, but my son is older, he's 9, so he's pretty self sufficient on most things at home (getting dressed, etc.). I clean everyday, usually after DD goes to bed. I do laundry mostly on the weekends. I don't have a husband to make meals for, entertain, etc. so that's one less thing for me to worry about. It's a lot of work, but it's easier as the kids are getting older that's for sure!

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
Honestly you make do.... I am really feeling overwhelmed right now with everything. I pretty much do everything for the boys and the house bc DH works long hours and on the weekend. I'm lucky to have a job that is flexible and gives me a pretty good work life balance. I go in around 9:30/10 am and leave by 5:30/6 pm, but I will sometimes do work after they boys have gone to sleep. By the time I fed both kids, bathe them, put them to bed, cook dinner, clean up, wash bottles, pack diaper bag and check my work email - it's almost 10pm.
I live for Sat/Sun nap when both kids are asleep, it's like 2 hours of pure bliss. I love my kids, but sometimes I'm ready to pull my hair out after being home alone with my 3 yr and 1 yr old. Today, I asked DH to go to church without me. I just wanted some peace and quiet. I was able to watch TV and eat a nice lunch without any interruption, do some laundry and some cleaning.
We've talked about having 3 or 4 kids, but I can't imagine adding anymore to the mix unless I get a housekeeper and/or nanny.

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
Before DD was born, I had so much anxiety about this. But, you take it one day at a time, and it's not as hard as you think it will be. You develop a schedule pretty quick and adjust.

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
You just get into a routine. My dd is 9 1/2 and ds is 4 1/2. I clean the house everyday (not major but making sure everything is in its place).

Re: Working Moms of 2 Plus....
I agree with the other posters that you just adjust as it happens. I do let some things go -- like house cleaning, but then I try to make up for it at odd times (5:00 am or 11:00 pm) when there's some peace and quiet.
I used to work and commute into Manhattan, but after having Hannah I looked for work locally and now work only 1.5 miles from home. So sometimes at lunch I run home to take care of things or do my grocery shopping.
