Working moms of cranky Toddlers…..

How do you get ready in the morning if your DC is cranky and wants you to hold them? DS was very fussy this morning (not feeling well) and wanted me to hold him and I was trying to get ready for work. He wants nothing to do with DH. I am constantly late for work and with the new baby coming I just don’t know how I am going to do it. Chat Icon

You try to give him as much as you can, but in all honesty, you're going to have to let DH take part in comforting DS so you can get yourself ready. With a new baby coming, you are going to need all the help you can get. Chat Icon

We have a routine in the morning so DS doesn't usually give us any issues. If he is cranky or fussy, I don't stop what I am doing, I just distract him by talking about what he is going to do that day with Nonna and then we go over animal sounds or talk about things I know he enjoys.

Re: Working moms of cranky Toddlers…..

When push comes to shove, I let her cry. Unless she's sick, of course, then I'll take the day off and tend to her. But if it's just the typical morning cranks, I stick to our routine, and won't deviate. If she continues to cry, or refuse to do what I ask her to do, like brush her teeth or put on her clothes, I tell her I'm giving her 5 seconds to comply, or I'm walking out. She hates when I walk out of the room, so she usually shapes up within a minute or two.

Re: Working moms of cranky Toddlers…..

It's tough. DH usually leaves for work before DS wakes up so it's all on me. If DS wakes up clingy it makes for a tough morning. On these days I let him cry if I need to and get ready the rest of the time while he is strapped into his seat, eating breakfast watching Noggin or Disney. DS seems distracted with food and entertainment.

I ignore him if he is cranky. If he is sick I call in sick. I am late to work all the time. I am very lucky to have very laid back bosses.

DD is usually not cranky in the morning (knock wood) BUT she gets into everything!! I usually try to get up and dressed before she wakes up so I can just tend to her when she is up. This has worked well so far.

If she wakes up before me, I usually tell DH to change her diaper and I toss my clothes on very quickly. I don't do my makeup until I bring her to my parents' house (I eat breakfast there, tooChat Icon )

Thank god DS is never cranky in the morning. We have our morning routine, I wake up before him giving me enough time to shower, get dressed (hair & makeup too), warm up his bottle and then I wake him up and get him ready for his day.
