Working moms ... please help

Does anyone ever feel like their child suffers because they work? I never felt like this before but lately I am starting to. It's not because my DD isn't happy. She is. BUT ... I know I don't have the time during the year to do playdates and she has only a few friends and I am starting to feel terrible about it. Lately she has started to ask to see her friends on the block a lot more and it seems as though they always have plans with each other more than her because most of them are stay at home moms so they arrange playdates more often and I'm just not in the routine of this. My DD just used to see people around the neighborhood and that's how she became friendly with them but it seems now that everything is so much more "formal" now that they are getting older. I know once summer is over I won't have time to do playdates as much anyway and I just feel so guilty that she's getting left behind. Am I the only one who experiences this?

I do a little. I do make it appoint to get her to see her friends at least once every two weeks (which is more than I get to see my friends) I try my best, but she is well socialized in daycare too. Besides if she was in big girl school she would be in the same situation only seeing her friends at school. Try not to feel too guilty.Chat Icon

How old is your DC?

Do your children go to school?

DS is only 4months old so this is not a problem yet. I was planning to enroll him in a nursery school type environment when he is 18 months. I guess I never thought about play dates after nursery school.

yes I do feel that way. He is 10 months I signed him up for saturday AM safe t swim, we made it to 2 whole classes bc I'm too tired to rush out of the house to taek him. I felt bad about that. He is not around other kids at all bc he is home w/ grand parents. I feel like all I am doing is getting him ready to drop him off, then getting him ready for bed!!! no quality time Chat Icon
