Working out and AF (TMI - sorry) - Updated on the bottom - Thank you for inspiring me!!!!!
I know this is a silly question - but if you are a regular exerciser, how do you do it with AF? Do you change your routine? Do you ever need to take a day off?
I have added 2 mornings of spin to my routine - I needed to squeeze it in with my crazy hectic life - so it means I have to wake up at 4:15AM to get to a 5AM class. So far, I have been going to sleep early, wake up, go - and feel great all day.
This morning, I just knew I wasn't going to be able to do it. AF just drains me. It is so heavy since I had DS, I knew that it would be miserable to do it, and then I was concerned about how I would feel the rest of the day at work.
Does anyone else skip when they have AF? If I went this morning, would I have felt better or worse?
I have been so enjoying the workouts, it killed me to not go in this morning. Tonight I will do some weights, and the push up, squat and ab workout - so I will do something.
Please share how you change your workouts - and while you are at it - any tricks to address my energy during AF? I try to eat more things with iron and calcium, but if there is anything that helped you from feeling too drained so I can maybe stick with my routine next month, that would be great!
Thanks!

Re: Working out and AF (TMI - sorry)
It is such a pain to have it! I had baby #2 a year ago and it took 11 months to get AF again and I was not nursing! Anyway, she decides to show up the day before I'm running a half marathon! I was so upset....it was annoying....but I ran my fastest time!! So now I just figure if I can run a half on day 2 of AF, I can do anything!! So I do still work out, i actually feel worse the week before.

Re: Working out and AF (TMI - sorry)
I get very drained w AF too but I try to push myself..I always say if I can at least do 20 -30 mins at least I did something and usually once I get into it I do longer..some times I only do the 30 mins but I do try to push. I actually have it now and my first day was a night mare...i had a really bad morning fight at dr's office, got hit in the parking lot, huge fight with SO cried the whole way to work, by 3pm i was so emotionally and physically drained i was like i am NOT going to the gym, by 5 I was dressed and ready to go I blasted my ipod and ran out all my frustrations from it and felt great after! Try to give yourself a little push It'll be worth it in the end even if you just do 20 minutes....HTH

As tired as I am from AF I push myself because whenever I excercise I just feel better. I find that excercise eases cramps and my PMSing attitude so I make myself work out for a little while.

ITA, though I'll be honest that there are some days I just cannot drag myself out of bed.
I give you MAJOR kudos if you can get up at 4am to go to the gym while you have AF!

I usually am feeling pretty crappy and don't want to. I do try pushing to do at least 20-30 min also as a PP said.

I generally feel like crap but I still dance. I'm sluggish but it's always worth it.

Re: Working out and AF (TMI - sorry)
Thanks ladies - you guys inspired me - so, I had some time tonight before Cailen's swim class - there was a spin from 4:30-5:30 (swim was at 6) - so I took the class. I was sooooo tired, but I perked up as soon as I changed, and was pumped through the whole class. Now I feel so energized (OK - the 2 cups of coffee helped a little ) and I am soooo glad I went!
Thank you so much for the push!!!!

I keep my regular routine. I get very bad menstrual migraines and exercise seems to help minimize them.
