Working out during the week
Why can't I bring myself to do this??
I jog loyally on the weekends/days off. I have been such a good girl about food. I set the intention to work out, but I never follow through after work. I am just too exhausted from the insanity of a day of teaching. And since work gets going so early in the morning, I can't work out in the a.m.
By the time I get home, making a healthy dinner and catching up on emails is about all I can manage.

Re: Working out during the week
If I don't drag my butt out of bed at 501am and do Jillian Michael's shred DVD I would not work out during the week. It gives me energy and waaaay to tired after being out of the house 620-4. It's worth getting up just 30 minutes earlier I'm starting to feel better and have more energy.

Re: Working out during the week
I struggle with this too. I was only working 3 days a week, so I just did it on 3 or 4 of my days off, & that was working out well for me, but I just went back to FT and honestly I haven't been back to the gym since.
I am NOT a morning person at all, and every night I tell myself I am going to get on the treadmill at home, and it never happens. I give so many kudos to you women that get up at 4-5am to workout. My friend said to do it for a month in the morning and it starts to get easier, but the thought scares me!!!

Re: Working out during the week
I'm asking for a treadmill for my birthday in November....because I would prefer to work out in the morning...but I can't run outside at 5am because it's so dark!
And I do my best to work out after work....but by the time I get a chance....it's dark too! So I wind up running at the gym a few times a week.

Re: Working out during the week
I know how you feel about the weekdays -- it's really tough, especially as a teacher, to want to (or even be ABLE to) do ANYTHING after work. I do have a treadmill at home, and I literally FORCE myself out of bed Monday through Thursday at 5am to run three miles before I go to school. I give myself Fridays (and one weekend day, depending on the weekend) off. (It makes Friday mornings that much sweeter -- as if they need to be. )
My theory is -- I'm exhausted after work whether I wake up at 5 or 6 -- might as well get up at 5 and run and then get home knowing I don't even have to feel guilty about not getting to do it later.

Working out during the week
start slow. get up 15 min early and do a mag rack on Demand. after a week get up 20 min early...then 35 min...then 30min. 1/2 hr work out is perfect to get your day started and get it over with. Who knows you may get up even earlier then that OR have enough energy to do 1/2 hr more at night. Once you get your motor running you will want to run with it!! Good Luck!

Re: Working out during the week
As hard as it is, I try to get up at 4:45 twice a week to work out before work, and then I work out Saturdays and Sundays too, so 4 times total. The fact that it's just twice a week is only thing that makes it bearable.

I already get up at 5. Once daylight savings time happens, I start to get up at 4-4:30, all in the name of work. It's the only time of day I'm clear-headed enough to grade essays. Really, it's the only way to stay above water.
I have an elliptical at home, but I also have a gym membership. Maybe (just maybe!) if I go directly from work to gym, it will be easier to commit. Once I get to my house, I can find a hundred other things that seem more urgent (and palatable) than yoga or cardio. If I only had to do that 2-3 times a week, maybe it would be bearable!

Working out during the week
You need to make it a habit. Usually, I run outside so I go home and get changed, but when I go to the gym, I always make sure I bring my stuff with me to work so I can go directly to the gym. The additional benefit of working out is that you get an extra energy boost at the end of the day, which I always need.

Yup. Habit is the key.
The hardest thing in the world is actually getting into the car and backing out of my driveway.
Once I actually get to where I am going, I am fine.
