Re: Working out/Losing Weight
I did work out alot before my pregnancy and up until I was about 4-5 months pg. I don't really know if it helped me lose the weight quicker or not. I still have about 20 lbs to lose at 3 mos pp to be at my pre-pg weight (a weight which has always been difficult for me to maintain anyway, so 15lbs is far more realistic for me). But I have to confess that I haven't stepped up my workout routine to where I should really be at this point.
I definitely think it helped keep me from gaining too much in the beginning though.

I didn't work out before or after - but I've found that handsdown the fastest way to lose weight is to breastfeed. Worked for me both times.

It's funny that u say that breast feeding helps u lose weight bc i have heard mixed things about that. I heard that your body actually stores fat that it normally wouldn't bc it knows your breast feeding. But then again i hear gr8 stories like yours and it works.

Re: Working out/Losing Weight
I gained over 70lbs during my pregnancy and worked out prior, during and after. My son will be 5 months on the 23rd and I have lost all but 5lbs.
I don't know where all that weight came from, well at the end it was water weight but I eat super healthy and I the extra bulk went everywhere so it made carrying my little guy around very easy since I had tree trunks as legs to support my belly :)
I believe it also made my labor easier especially since my epidural didn't work.
I breastfeed for 8 weeks and I didn't really loose any extra weight from my post baby hospital weight until I stopped then I started to seem to shrink daily. Between pumping, feeding, and trying to get cat naps I had to eat alot and fast to keep up my energy.

Same happened to me -- I am 10 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight after EBF for 6 months without any trips to the gym. (Lucky I know.) Of course carrying around my 18 pound daughter is a workout itself!
In conclusion, there is no way to predict what your body is going to do, but working out is always good for you, so if your motivated go for it.

I dont think Ive ever heard that BFing doesn't help you loose weight. Your body has to work harder to produce milk so you burn calories just sitting around (more than you do normally).

my friend did not lose the weight with either of her 2 children...but her OB said that can happen to some women...but the majority do lose...I know I did

Re: Working out/Losing Weight
BF helps speed up the shrinking of your uterus back to normal. I've heard mixed reviews as well.
I know some women who packed on the weight because they were now eating heartier meals in order to provide better nutrients for thier babies and then there are those who just lost weight but some of those woman were just small to begin with.
Either way, I think that you should bf because you want to and not as a form of weightloss (if there is one)

Ahh I guess I just put myself with the majority. I gained 60lbs with each kid and lost all but 11 with Emma and Im down to all but 17 with Jeremy 8 months later. I did start exercising but I lost 40+ by BFing alone.

Re: Working out/Losing Weight
I was back in my regualr clothes by 3 weeks breastfeeding. I am still up 15 pounds ,but it's my own fault because I haven't really been watching what I each. I don't work out at all, other than walking.
