Working out with a cold?
In the past I've ready conflicting things about working out while you're sick...
If the sickness is from the neck&up you are fine to work out, if you dont have a fever you are fine to work out, never work out with a cold, etc.
Im in the middle of a cold and debating whether or not to work out tomorrow. Regardless of the advice I've read, I'm almost more worried about how germ-y the gym is and that I'll pick up something else before the holidays.
Do you work out while sick?

Re: Working out with a cold?
Mel,
Every trainer I've worked out with has said don't work out while you're sick. Depending on how hard you work out it really is not good for an already impaired immune system. If you have a cold it's really rough on the lungs to even do cardio.
Feel better

Re: Working out with a cold?
I usually take a break when I am sick. I am all about resting a cold.

Re: Working out with a cold?
I needed to read this post. I have been so sick since Saturday and have not been to the gym! I feel liek crap and I feel guilty for not going. This made me feel better. I can't even breathe walking up the stairs, I can't even imagine being on the elliptical.

Re: Working out with a cold?
I always work out w/ a cold. I believe if it's above your neck (i.e. stuffy nose or similar) it's ok. If you're coughing, bronchitis, etc, probably not a good idea.

Re: Working out with a cold?
I never do. My trainer says to never work out when you have chest congestion. Makes breathing harder.
