Worried about water safety. WWYD?
So we live in a rental community. When I was 8 months pregnant we moved in here. DH and I wound up getting violently ill from the water. We changed the filter and it was better.
Monday night I got sick again and wound up being hospitalized Tuesday with bloody diarrhea (sorry if TMI) and tachycardia. It was confirmed that I have a bacterial infection and they gave me Cipro. DH also having a GI issue too. After hospital I stayed over my parents house for 24 hours and was feeling better. I came home Wednesday and was starting to feel a little sick on Thursday and today I am back to where I started. I have been taking the Cipro with water. DS is the only one without symptoms and he is given bottled water for his formula. I feel strongly its the water. If a drop dries on the counter there is so much residue and you can actually see it floating around in a glass even with it being filtered. I called maintenance since SCWA wont do anything, but who knows if they will do anything or how long that will take. My concern is that we all bathe in this water. Most concerned about DS's safety (bath). We can switch to bottled water for drinking and boil for cooking, but WWYD in the situation? Should I boil water for DS's baths too? UGH! This is such a horrible situation!

I would boil water for baths and then move as soon as my lease is up.

I am not sure who you contact exactly, but there must be someone who can test the water. The EPA maybe, or start with the water district in your town?
Not sure if the problem is with the water supply or something in your pipes or filtering system. I would get it tested though and see what results you get. They sell over the counter kits, but I've heard they are not accurate, and I think they also mainly test for lead not bacteria.

Unfortunately lease isn't up until September. It's sad though because we like this place except for this...but this is a big deal.
Thing is because it's winter, it's possible others in the complex have been sick too, but have blamed it on a stomach virus. Wondering if I should knock on doors? The complex probably woundnt do anything if I am the only one.

I think they would have to do something though if a reputable agency tested the water and found there was an unsanitary condition related to the complex. Not sure, but I would think they could receive fines for not addressing an issue?
I have no idea what the number is for Ronkonkoma. Call the Town Clerk's office if you can't find a number, they should have it.
