Worried for a friend

OK, my friend is 14.5 weeks pregnant and had two incidences of spotting during the 1st trimester, but it was during a time of stress and everything turned out fine.

Well, today, she began spotting again, left work, had a sonogram and everything was fine. Not two hours later, she started bleeding a lot (like period blood) and called the doctor who immediately put her on bedrest for a week. He reassured her that since she just had the sono that everything was probably just fine. I am freaking out on her behalf.

So, my questions are this: have you ever heard of this before and what could cause something like this?

i have heard of people who have period like bleeding during pregnacy and all is well but of course i can totally underatsnd your worrying

Could be placenta previa. This is when the placenta rests on the cervix and causes bleeding. You can have a partial or complete. My SIL had this and was on bedrest from 32-36 weeks in the hospital for monitoring. She had complete though and think she was the worst case scenario. My nephew is now 2 and is perfect in every way. Tell your friend to follow the Drs offers completely really rest for a week. no stairs or strenuous activity. Good luck to her.

My SIL has some serious bleeding at 15 weeks and turns out everything is just fine. She is going to give birth next month!

I had some pretty heavy spotting at 14 weeks too. Nothing turned out to be the cause ?? and I am now 25 weeks and she is kicking up a storm and everything looks great!
