Would a house that is in contract still have an open house?

I know this probably sounds like a dumb question but a house that we made an offer on about a month ago....remember the one with the nutty realtor who kept me waiting forever to get back to me about the offer and then wanted to speak to my mortgage person and wanted to know my credit scores....She called me like a million times a day to ask me various questions but still never gave me any answers except to tell me about the many offers it had and each time she would call me the number of offers she had would increase. Anyway, we would keep calling to see if it was still available and of course it always was because it has been for sale forever....well anyway we called last Thurs and the secretary said it was sold and in contract.....but now I see that there will be an open house there this weekend. What the hell????

Yes I believe so...We have been to a few open houses like this.. When we walk in the listing agent says "oh and by the way this house is in contract" I believe they can keep showing it until all papers have been signed

I thought that after both parties have signed the papers that they were officially in contract and that was it....no one else could get the house.... I could see if maybe only one party signed then it would be ok.

Until contracts are fully signed by both seller and buyer, the house can still be shown to prospective buyers.
