Would love some obgyn recs from expecting moms!

First of all congratulations to all the ladies here!!!!

So I will try to make this short and sweet if I can...we will be ttc within the next year and I would like to finally settle down with a gyn who is also an Ob... I have really struggled with all the gynos I have ever been to. As is, I am a mess every time I have to go, that old saying that it gets better, you get used it, etc. I never do. And so I really need a great doctor with a wonderful bed side manner and who will be patient with questions/issues, genuinely caring and of course an intelligent/experienced doctor. Ive had terrible experiences where I begged for them to take my blood pressure after the exam and the nurse or doc is a complete azz, doesn't listen and then of course goes crazy at my blood pressure and one time said i would have a stroke. I left hysterical over the whole thing and the fact that I cant ever have a somewhat OK experience. I would love to be able to go in and speak the the doctor for our first meeting and not even have an exam that day so I could really meet them and not have to freak out. Oh and yeah I really need a woman.

I live in Bayside, work in Manhasset, and would like a doctor to be associated with St. Francis or North Shore. Also, of course the doctor to be in north/east Queens or west Nassau/north shore.

I would really be grateful for any recommendation on doctors who you think fit the bill.

Im thinking that Syosset, dont know the name but the one on Jericho right across from North Ritz club and Friendlys wouldnt be too far.

omg DEF go to dr. cliff goldstein - he has AMAZING bedside manner!! really nice doctor, very caring. he was recommended to me by my RE who has the best bedside manner of any doctor (or person) that ive ever met.

he is located on northern blvd in great neck and delivers at LIJ. i wanted to deliver at NSUH but i liked dr. goldstein so much that i dont mind switching to LIJ to have him be my ob/gyn. plus LIJ is opening a brand new womens health center hopefully this summer that is supposed to be top of the line.

Dr. Randi Rothstein of North Shore OBGYN is in Bayside ( across the street from Bay Terrace) and delivers at NSUH.

She has been nothing short of amazing! LOVE HER! Good luck!

My OB's office is Pro Health in Lake Success...it's an awesome practice where the doctors take their time with you...that being said, there's always a 45 minute wait, regardless of appointment time. But I don't mind waiting because they're THAT good.

I see Dr Marc Harvey who I LOVE, but if you're looking for a woman specifically you could see Dr Li or Dr CHen..I will warn you though, since they are women doctors it is very, very difficult to get an appointment with them.

Also, while you are pregnant, you need to see all 5 doctors who deliver, because each of them has a set on call day at NSUH..so even though you could have 1 of the females as your main OB, you WILL need to be seen by the men as well.

St Francis and the one across from Friendlys is North Shore-Syosset, neither of them have Labor and Delivery. From where you are I would look into drs that deliver at North Shore Manhasset or LIJ neither are far from each other and easy to get to. I dont know many drs in that area but my girl friend and her sister use Oppenheim that someone else recom. and travel pretty far to go there becuase they love it there. Good Luck!

So, I made an appointment (consultation- no exam) to speak with Dr. Rothstein and I must say that the receptionist was the nicest front desk staff at any doctors office! So that definately got things off to a nice start. Im actually excited at the thought of actually having a doctor that I like and possibly getting over this hating and being a reck about the going to the gyno.

Thank you so much again and definately keep the recs coming if you have any because if something doesnt work out or even maybe I would like to make a second consultation, I will definately look to you guys...

Appt is not until March.

I love Terry Rifkin, I had a bad experience at another practive and someone on this board recommend the practice he is in and I love them, I feel blessed to have founf them. There are throee kaufman and sadaty and they are all great. Its great neck OBGYN they are ar 900 northern blvd. They deliever at North shore. Good luck

Dr Rifkin is the best ! He delivered my son... and I am seeing him now for my second pregnancy. I cannot say enough great things about him. Good Luck :)
