Would this bother you or am I too sensitive?
Would you be mad?
I go to WW with my best friend. We joined together and have been motivating each other for months now. We have lost and gained together and were basically on the same track the entire time.
Well now, she has decided to take the Alli pill. Ok fine, up to her, I know a lot of people take it. But, she is going to continue going to ww with me every week. Her first week on it, she has already lost 5 pounds. Now when we weigh in, she is going to have a tremendous weight loss and I am going to be doing my (hopefully) 1 pound per week. She doesnt want to tell anyone there that shes taking the diet pill, ok her choice, but I am kind of annoyed that its going to look like shes doing so much better than me..and its because she is taking this pill. She is going to tell them that she is just being "more focused." So doesnt that make me look "less focused?"
I dont know why it annoys me so much but it does. Would it annoy you?

This would probably bother me also. The two of you are there to motivate one another and encourage each other. I know from experience how hard it is to lose weight and how frustrating it can be when I have a weight lose of 1lb. or less when I try so hard.
Good luck and don't give up.

Stop going with her since it does bother you! It will just be demotivating!

I don't know about that. One of the biggest motivators for me are my buddies. You could say the same thing if one person lost weight VERY slowly and the other has no problem and is practically melting away. As a friend, I would try my best to put my feelings aside and support her.
I know it might be upsetting at first, and I'm not saying that you are being competitive, but weight loss is not a competition. It's a very individual process......
I got this off of the ww website in the science section: Alli (and all other weight-loss drugs) need to be taken indefinitely to sustain their effectiveness. If she is willing and able to do this, all the power to her. But chances are, when she reaches goal and stops taking the pill, she will gain some weight back and have to learn how to deal with it.
I'm a big believer that the mind has to get there before the body does. Doing it slowly, losing 1-2 lbs a week is better for your body and your mind in the long run.

I don't think you're too sensitive. I think you're focusing on WW as a competition than as a better way of eating & lifestyle for you.
It's not. It's about you & learning to eat right.
A 5 lbs weight loss in one week is dramatic. My feeling is the WW leader knows full well that she's not following the program if she's losing more than she should be. If the pattern repeats, I would think they would speak to her.
I know it would pizz me off if she sat there telling the group what worked for her this week & lied about it. It's not fair to the group or those that are trying.
