Would this piss you off...
DS's christening was a week ago and we wanted to get the Godparents a gift. We got them tickets to go see Tony and Tina's wedding which they said they loved and had such a great time! Now we had gotten them a 3rd ticket for their daughter, the Godsister, to make her feel important and not left out. So when DH was talking to his sister about the show she told him that the daugther couldn't go because she had trophy night for some softball league she's in. Um hello we told you in advance that we were getting you tickets for a show so you could put the date aside. You should of told us not to get that extra ticket. She claimed they tried to get a 3rd person to go with them but noone was available. I don't know if I believe it. Their daughter is at that pre-teen obnoxious stage where all she wants to do is hang out with her friends and be cool. I don't mind as we all went through that phase but i'm sorry if someone spent money on that ticket I would make her come if I had to drag her by the hair. I understand she had "trophy night" but dammit that's money down the drain for that unused ticket. I told DH "Never again" "I don't ever want to hear you say you are buying any ticket for her again"
The best is how non challant they are about it. I want to see if they offer us the money for that unused gift, which of course DH wouldn't take because that's the kind of person he is.

If it actually was trophy night, I think you're lucky the parents didn't skip Tony & Tina's Wedding too. What they should have done was to call the theater & try to reschedule the performance (not a lot of people know that they can do that).
If it was just a snotty teenager thing, then I would be annoyed.

I think since you gave them the 3rd ticket - it was up to them how they were going to use it.
I don't think I would be PO'd at them - I think I would just take note for next time.

Re: Would this piss you off...
If it was trophy night then should have told us not to get tickets for that night.
Doesn't that make sense?
It's not fair for the people who spent the money. I told DH that we should have gotten them a Godparents frame.
That's their christmas gift...
A lesson learned I guess.

ME TOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! That would PISSSS me off !!
Ask them if you can have the unused ticket because the theatre will give you another date (and use the ticket for yourselves, you'll have to buy anther one though ) and really calll the theatre and say that one person wasnt feeling well, if they can do anything for you. Be persistent, if you want me to make the call, let me know but make sure you have that unused ticket before you call.
thats what I would do. and thats VERY generous of you guys!

I don't know if they have the ticket. We were at my MIL's when Rob talked to his sister on the phone about the show because it was on Saturday night.
Girl I saw red fumes when I heard Haley didn't go. Rob was like "what are you gonna do" He just takes the loss and that's it. If it were my family I would demand, that's right DEMAND that ticket back and do what you suggested but he won't, and if I say i'll do it then he'll be like "just let it go"...
errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I no longer work and they know my husband is the only one working so HELLO money doesn't grow on trees for us. We thought we were doing a very thoughtful thing for the Godsister who by the way did not participate at all in helping her mom dress the baby which I kept telling her that was what she was going to do. I just figured she'd be more excited about it. But she didn't seemed to enthused. The girl wore jeans to the christening and was dressed as if she were attending a BBQ instead of a christening.
