Would this upset you?
If someone very significant in your child's life forgot his/her birthday (I'm talking immediate family).

Re: Would this upset you?
Depending, knowing how busy people are these days and with so many things going. If it was my husband or the grandparents Yes, godparents, aunts and uncles ...well maybe.
I really learned not to expect anything from anyone to avoid being upset. If they forgot to come to his b-day party that I invited them to then I would be fuming.

Re: Would this upset you?
If it were grandparents, I would be upset aunts, uncles, cousins probably not as upset, becuase I understand that sometimes you get so caught up in life and things going on that it is easy to forget. And I have learned not to set too high expectations on family

Re: Would this upset you?
thanks ladies, this is indeed someone who should NEVER forget her birthday , I think we heard from almost every person in our lives for my daughter's birthday yesterday EXCEPT these people What makes it worse is that my family OVER DOES IT! People call twice, once to say "happy birthday" and then later to see how her day went (she had a very exciting day in the city), I think she heard from about 20 people from my family yesterday, so I guess that is the GOOD news

Re: Would this upset you?
My friend's daughter was born January 3. SOOO many people don't call or send a card because "they just saw her for Christmas". Often people give her 2 gifts at Christmas- and say one is for your birthday. I think it is awful and unacceptable. I would be very hurt if immediate family or a very close friend blew off Molly's birthday. If something major was going on in their lives- such as a death or something then, of couse, I would totally understand. But for the most part it would truly hurt me.

Re: Would this upset you?
It would depend on the person. I know that in DH's family it's "normal" that if your birthday falls during the week and they spoke to you over the weekend and said "Happy Birthday" that's it. No call on your actual birthday.
My family is like yours, we get a million calls that day and if we are out they all leave messages singing Happy Birthday to You.

Re: Would this upset you?
Nope. My own dad used to forget my birthday and even I've forgotten mine once. Our family doesn't make it a big deal. But I've never forgotten my niece and nephew's b-days, although I have had times when I couldn't call.
But it sounds like it is a big deal in your family so unless this person was stuck away from the phone, I might be a little miffed.
