Would you buy a hosue that back up against a school parking lot?

I will have to drive by this weekend but it seems teh hosue borders ocweasnides high school and it appears to be a teachers lot or somethng but not teh mian lot.House seems to have a lot of trees that woudl block teh view of it. Nice yard and great house.

mmm it had to be a really nice house (or what i think is nice) and a good price. We are about 1/3 of a mile from the high school and Jr. High and in the fall we hear EVERY game or whatever is on that loud speaker. I only hear it in the fall because windows are open still typically.

But the nice thing is when your off the kids are typically off and weekends there is no traffic at the schools.

Nope. To noisy, plus the traffic would make me nuts. Also, late teachers meeting open houses, concerts.

My first thought is probably not but I'd check it out more thoroughly. Can you go by at night or on weekends to see if it's a hang out? That's what I think about more than during school hours - if it's not policed or locked up and you have kids hanging out there, doing drugs, having sex, KWIM?

It does partly depend on how nice the house but it doesn't matter how nice a house is if there is something outside that is not in your control too. So I'd want to see it on more than one occasion at different times of the day & week.

no probably not. if you can i would try to drive by early in the morning (when people are arriving), during the school day, and later in the afternoon (when school's letting out) so you can see what traffic is like, if anyone parks on the street in front of the house, etc.

No, I wouldn't. I used to live a few blocks away from there and I remember seeing cars coming out of the back parking lot at all sorts of random times, always wondered what they were up to.

2/ go check on a rainy day and if it's a slopped level. Years ago I rented a house and everytime it rained I had a 15 ft wide river going through the yard (about 2-3 inches deep over the grass). The crawl space would be filled with water. 2 ft high. No kidding! They had paved a school parking lot but the ground was a bit higher than our house. We had thought about buying the house too. Good thing we found out about the water issues.

I live in Oceanside currently and I can tell you I wouldn't buy a house that backed up to the high school parking lot

My property backs up to a hs field - not the parking lot but I can see it across the field - I wouldn't want to be any closer to it. HS kids are notoriously self centered and do not think about anyone else when they honk their horns, play music, etc.

Most schools now have security 24/7 so kids hanging out is no longer a problem.
