Would you buy a Mother's Day gift for your MIL if she were your SMIL?
My MIL is DH's stepmother. He has no desire to get her anything for Mother's Day, since she's not his mother (his mother died around 10 years ago) and he's not that crazy about her.
I'm not exactly crazy about MIL either, so I'm not sure what to do about Mother's Day (and I can't remember what I've done the past Mother's Days!)
What would you do?

a card is a great idea. I was in Party Hardy getting my cards Tuesday night and they had a couple of Stepmom cards that weren't too mushy or anything.

In your situation I would send a card - out of respect for the FIL.
I send my S/mom a mother's day gift, not my mother.

Yes! They do have stepmother cards--they are always in the way when I am looking for Godmother cards.

I don't get what having respect for FIL has to do with *you* getting a card for your stepMIL.
Shouldn't Clay be getting or not getting her a card?
BTW, I thought I kinda remembering him saying not to last year? Maybe I'm wrong but I feeling very dejavu-ish!!!

We do flowers for SMIL, MIL and MIL's girlfriend. I feel it is fair to everyone.
Then again, DH's stepmom is a huge part of our lives and I couldn't imagine not getting her something.

I say you should listen to dh because maybe he has a reason for not getting her anything.
One year I wanted to get Dh's grandmother flowers for mother's day & he told me not to. Of course I didn't listen & she made me feel stupid when I brought them over. She said that she doesn't need flowers because she's a mother every day of the year so why give her anything today.
Not saying this is your situation but he knows her better that you do.
