Would you cancel your trip to Sesame Place if DC was scared of the characters????
I dont know what to do. My mom called me again this morning about DD crying over Sesame Street.
I want to take her but dont want it to be a miserable trip.

I wouldn't cancel.
We went to Sesame YEARS ago, but if I remember correctly, the characters were in a designated area for picture taking.
Don't bring her to that area, or go but hang back several feet so she sees they aren't that menacing.
Some do roam around the park, but I think she'll be so distracted, she probably won't even notice.
Have fun.

If DC if freaking about them on TV can you imagine how they'll be in person!?!?! I know that when we were at Beaches in Turks, the characters can be pretty intense to a young child.

Jen how much notice do you need to give them to cancel? Do you have some time to see if they'll grow on her? Buy her a small little Elmo, watch it with her and show her how FUN it is? I'm not suggesting to force them on her, but maybe she just needs to watch it a few times.
That's what you get for not waiting for us Just kidding!!!

Its weird this morning before we left I put it on and she was fine. Suffalupagus was on with the count and Oscar. She didnt cry once. She was actually pointing at the screen.
My mom put it on and she screamed at the TV. Im DVRing them so I plan to play it on the weekend.
She does have some Elmo things. An Elmo chair and Blow Kisses Elmo. I also have TMX Elmo, but she cried at that the other day. But I can understand how she can cry at that.
Oh, Miss Jodi, we can still go because the passes you buy are for two trips into the park. If she likes it then we can go in August if you want. I would defintely go again depending how she does the first time.

I might...Those big characters could be scary for a small child.

I wouldn't go. You won't have much fun if you are constantly trying to calm down a scared child. i would wait a while to go.

I took Julia and she doesn't even watch Seseme Street--lol She had a lot of fun anyway! She did cry a little when she saw some of the characters, but they never came up to her or anything, I would still go!

How about Dutch wonderland instead. It is really nice for little ones too.
Thaat being said, no I wouldn't. My kids love the pools, rides and the sprinklers. The characters can be easily avoided. They are not in your face.

Re: Would you cancel your trip to Sesame Place if DC was scared of the characters????
If she's scared of the characters I absolutely would not take her. Makes no sense to subject her to it and there's always next summer when she will no doubt be over it. What about somewhere else like Dutch Wonderland?
ETA: I just read down further that you are decided you are going so my advice is outdated I guess but if she's scared, I think she will see the characters a lot there, no? I was there quite a few years ago before I had kids but had nieces and nephews and I remember everything being SS themed, as you would imagine so I can't see how you can avoid the characters.

Molly HATES characters but we just did not go up to them at Sesame. They did not force themselves on any child. We went on the rides and played but did not do any character activities, although she enjoyed the show since they were on stage and not walking close to her.

Re: Would you cancel your trip to Sesame Place if DC was scared of the characters????
I wouldn't cancel. It is not like the characters are everywhere. I wouldn't schedule a lunch or breakfast with them.
She may be fine with them, but like I said they are not everywhere you go at the park.
