Would you get your male boss a father's day gift if he was expecting a first child?
My boss just told me his wife is expecting. She is about 13 weeks along. I'd like to buy him a gift for father's day.
DH thinks I should just get a gift when the baby is born or around the time they have a shower.
I was thinking of getting him (more of a gift for his wife) some books like What to Expect, Baby Wise, etc.
Would you buy a gift for Father's Day?

i agree - i don't know your relationship with him but since he isn't your father or father or your children - it would be odd (IMHO)...
I would get them a gift once the baby arrives. I also feel like its early in a pregnancy to give gifts.

Maybe get a "Congrats on the baby" type gift, more than a "Father's Day Gift".
Maybe a book (father's guide) or a sono frame.
That depends on your relationship. I wouldn't get my boss anything, only when his wife had the baby.

Same here. My boss' wife had a baby last year right after father's day and I didn't get him anything until after the baby was born.

I think I'd stick with waiting until the baby's born. You could verbally wish him happy soon to be father's day if you speak to him around then. I don't think I'd go beyond that.

Ditto- unless you are friendly with him and his wife outside of the office. Then maybe get him a book geared towards men.

Nope. He's not a father until the baby gets here and I wouldn't feel comfortable giving a gift this early in the pregnancy.

Nope. He's not a father until the baby gets here and I wouldn't feel comfortable giving a gift this early in the pregnancy.
That is fair. I will wait until shower time.
