Would you give a little something?

DH came across a decent size error at his job (he's a sr accountant). The CEO said that him and the controller (his boss) will get a $1000 bonus each. His controller didn't want any of it since my DH really found it, so he is getting $2000 extra in this paycheck.

DH wants to know, do we get her something to thank her? His boss treats him so well so I said we can get her a panera gift certificate (since she loves that place for lunch) and just write inside thanks for everything.

Opinions? Views? TIA!

Re: Would you give a little something?

That would be very nice and appropriate, but not neccessary! The definition of generosity.

Re: Would you give a little something?

Great idea. I don't think it is expected to give a little something but very generous if you do!

Re: Would you give a little something?

I would but Ithink I would write more in the card. Like:

Dear Boss,

This is a token of mine and my familys' appreciation for all that you do. It's bosses like you that help to make a job fulfilling. Thanks again.

Re: Would you give a little something?

i think sending flowers (or anything to boss's house) would be weird.

a small gift certificate given in-person would be the perfect gesture

I really do not think you need to do anything. I'm sure your husband works hard and deserves his bonus. You shouldn't have to then spend money on the boss.

Re: Would you give a little something?

i absolutely think you should give something to the boss. if i read your post correctly - he has a $2K bonus instead of a $1K bonus bc of his boss. MANY bosses would have taken the $1K regardless of whether they had picked up the error or not. The fact that he gave it all to your hubby is awesome.

so... while certainly not obligated, i do think it would be nice to give the boss something.

I agree with this - or the gift certificate is fine, but to her house, not the office. DH's company has issues with this, maybe his does too.
