Would you kind people PLEASE help me decide on a stroller??

First off, I want to state that I realize how ridiculous to obsess and stress so much over a stroller... DH is NO help because he is adament that we don't need a new stroller.

Here's some background...

Had the 2007 Peg Perego Pliko P3 for DS#1. LOVED it!! One and only stroller. Full featured, yet light enought for everyday use. It still works great. it's dirty looking though. It is black, brown and tan and the tan parts are just dirty looking. We removed the harness when DS was in his 3s and there is a slight chance that we won't be able to find them although DH claims to know where they are...

My parents wanted to buy us new stroller for DS#2.

Bought same stroller 2011 version for DS#2 and returned it twice because it just doesn't seem to be made as well as it used to be and for the price... I just wasn't happy.

I then got in my head that I wanted a City Mini because of the rave reviews and because it seems to be the "in" stroller. I guess I was spoiled by the Peg and it's full set of features and I feel like the City Mini is just a totally different kind of stroller and not as practical or comfortable for baby.

I compared it with the Britax B-Agile and do think there are improvements to the B-Agile making it more comfortable, but still not a full feature stroller.

The BRU had great things to say about the Chicco Cortina. Heavier than the Peg but lighter than Graco, full features, comfortable, I can get the travel system and use the lighter by two pounds car seat rather than the heavy 11 pound Peg car seat I'm using from DS#1.

If you were me... would you:

a) get the B-Agile for in and out of the car daily use and use the old Peg when I want a full featured stroller

b) get the Chicco Cortina and retire the old Peg

c) can you recommend something else?

d) don't get anything, the Peg is still perfectly good, although dirty

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I have the City Mini and my SIL has the Chicco stroller. She is very happy with the stroller and is using it for her second son now.

I am not such a fan of the style of the Chicco stroller. I like a fresher look for strollers. I haven't seen the B-Agile in stores yet, but from what I've seen online, it's very similar to the City Mini with some improvements.

I would say my City Mini IS a full featured stroller. Not sure what you meant by that, but for me it means:
- seat reclines all the way
- HUGE canopy
- good basket
- VERY easy to maneuver
- Pushes easily with one hand (I have to do this often)
- DS is very comfortable in it
- Can add whatever accessories you want for your child (I have the belly bar and parent console)

Re: Would you kind people PLEASE help me decide on a stroller??

I have the Chicco Cortina and the City Mini. I love the Chicco Cortina stroller. Yes it's part of a travel system, but it's not insanely heavy like some of them out there. It folds with one hand and has great features. I use it whenever we go shopping or somewhere and DD is sleeping because she's still in the infant seat that just snaps right in. And that seat is the best. It's very light.

I got the City Mini because it is lightweight and so easy to maneuver and fold. I use this one for walks because I can easily pull it out of the trunk, open it, fold it back up and put it back in the trunk with one hand while I hold DD in my other arm. While the Chicco folds with one hand, I need two to lift it into the trunk.

Not sure if that was really helpful, but the Chicco is definitely a great stroller. Go to the store and test them out. I even stuck mine and my sister's bags in them to push them around and then folded them and lifted them onto shelves as if I were putting them into the trunk of my truck. I went to the store 3 times to play with them before I decided.

ETA: Just read Yesi's post and I completely forgot to mention the sun canopy. The one on the Chicco stinks. This was also another factor in getting the City Mini. I LOVE the canopy on it.

Thanks so much for your reply! I guess it really IS a full featured stroller. Maybe what is throwing me is the footrest on the City Mini/B-Agile. Being that it's not adjustable. I guess that only matters for little babies when you would want to adjust the leg rest up to enclose them more. Once they are taller, their legs are hanging downward anyway. The seat on the City Mini also throws me because it is more hammock like and not structured and padded. The B-Agile's seat actually is supported and padded. I can't decide if I like the fabric better on the City Mini or the B-Agile.

I'm glad to hear that your DS is very comfortable in it though. That helps me. Chat Icon

Thank you!

Thank you so much! Did you get the Chicco travel system with the regular carseat or the 30? Thanks!!

Yes, I'm not crazy about the canopy on the Chicco. I loved the one on the Peg and the one on the City Mini/B-Agile is even huger!!

Since you seem to really love your old stroller I would try cleaning it. See if you can get it looking acceptable to you.

Re: Would you kind people PLEASE help me decide on a stroller??

I have the Chicco Cortina and I like it A LOT but I will say there are TWO things that drive me crazy about it.

For one, when I used the stroller with the infant seat there was NO way to access the storage bin underneath without taking the infant seat completely out and then raising up the chair. That was a huge PITA.

Secondly, the seat of the stroller when fully upright still has an annoying recline to it and it still drives my DD crazy at age 3. She always has to lean forward to reach the snack tray and she just hates not sitting completely upright. I stopped using the harness straps an eternity ago so she was able to sit up and reach better. I just use to use the lap belt instead.

Other than those two things, it's a good, solid stroller. Mine is still in perfect condition after 3 yrs of use. Chat Icon

I will have to try to clean it. The majority of the stroller looks OK, it is just those tan parts that show everything.... dirt, sublock stains, face paint... LOL

Thank you!!

Thank you!

That's funny that you mention the recline when seat is in upright position because that is one of the things I was worried about with the City Mini and B-Agile. I didn't even realize that the Chicco had the same problem!!

Thanks for input!

I don't have the 30. Mine goes up to 22 pounds. Honestly, DD is about 12 pounds now and it's hard enough carrying it up and down my stairs. I doubt we'll make it anywhere near 22 pounds, so I didn't find the 30 necessary.

You're welcome. Chat Icon I noticed it more too when I say my friends who had the Graco strollers. Those kids are sitting so nice and upright. My poor DD always looks like she's leaning back. I wish it just clicked up a little more but what can ya do? Chat Icon Overall it's a good stroller, it really doesn't look worn or dirty and mine is a khaki tan and 3 years old. Bear in mind, I got mine in 2008 so there is a chance they corrected some of the complaints I had on the new models. I would check them out at BRU and see. Chat Icon

I agree. Mine went up to 22 lbs and we didn't make it ANYWHERE near 22 lbs before we switched our DD out of the infant seat at 7 months old because it was too heavy. I can't fathom 30lbs!! Yes, I am positive I wouldn't need the infant seat to go beyond 22 pounds either!!

Thank you!

And I'll have to check out the recline on the Chicco in person. I did full test out the stroller, but didn't notice this. But the baby was sleeping and I had my 4 year old in it and he was just too big to be in it to begin with so it would have been hard to tell! LOL

I just got the B agile during BRU trade in event. I was going to get the citi mini but they weren't participating in the offer so I went with the britax and LOVE it! Granted I prob. Would've liked anything compared to my 4 year old graco that was big and bulky. The britax one practically pushes itself and I love the huge sun shade for my pasty white baby :)

Re: Would you kind people PLEASE help me decide on a stroller??

I have the Chicco Cortina and the City Mini Double, so I think I am qualified to answer Chat Icon

Like you, I agonized over the Cortina. I wanted to LOVE it.

My biggest problem with it is there are these two wings on either side of the backrest. If you have a wide/bigger kid, they will OUTGROW this stroller quickly. I do have big kids. Both of mine have been in the 90 to 97% for height and weight. So they are BIG. But, at age 2, my DS can no longer sit comfortably in the Cortina. He fits fine in the City Mini (and that is the double which I think is narrower than the single!).

I also prefer the fold on the city mini to the Cortina and the sun shades on the city mini!!! I live in a track of new homes with barely any mature trees, so the sunshades are a BIG thing for us.

I hope that helps... Good luck!!!! Chat Icon

Ok, if I'm reading this right you are getting a new carseat too? I wouldn't do that?

Do you have a snap and go now? If so I would get either the City Mini or the B Agile stroller for when the baby is 6 months.

I wouldn't get a travel system at this stage of the game Chat Icon Chat Icon

BRU only had it in black and it was the last day of the trade in event. I was hesitant about black getting too hot, but I think he'll be okay. When I looked online, the red was way more$$. not sure why.

I had many strollers and I finally found "the one". I am going to recommend to you ZOOPER! They are the best strollers! Single or double...they are the best...

Re: Would you kind people PLEASE help me decide on a stroller??

Thank you to everyone for your replies and help!! I really appreciate it!

Diana - I never had a snap and go. I used the Peg with matching carseat for Thomas and I'm using it now for Christopher. The Peg carseat is SO heavy and I entertained the idea of getting a lighter one. I didn't necessarily want to get a travel system at this point, but when I saw the Chicco Cortna and liked it and some of them come as travel systems, I thought... maybe...

Sasampaio - I checked out Zooper because my friend recommended it but the model I liked, the Waltz, was on Consumer Reports do not buy list because of a safety hazard.
