Would you put wainscotting on new sheetrock?

I'm brainstorming for ideas for our bedrooms since they are currently gutted and ready for sheetrock. For my boys' room I was envisioning wainscotting painted red on the bottom half. (a la Pottery Barn Kids) My DH is against the idea of wainscotting at all bc it's brand new sheetrock and we will already be nailing into it if we do it. My thoughts are that it will add some "character" and texture to the walls vs. plain flat walls and can always be repainted down the line.
Would you do the wainscotting? Do you think it adds or takes away from the new room?

TIA

So what if it's "new" drywall? The whole idea of drywall is to form a base to add stuff onto. Paint, wallpaper, wainscotting, pictures, shelves, etc.

I would add it. Definitely adds an extra dimension to the wall.

Absolutely! My PR was re-sheetrocked about a month ago and I am adding wainscoting. I also really like the idea of a chair rail and chalk paint below in a child's room.

This is a very individual thing. You either love it or you hate it. I had paneling all over my house when we bought it so I am very anti anything on my newly sheetrocked walls.
