Would you stay with your doctor?
I am trying to decide if I should get a new ob/gyn and would love your opinions. My son is 21 mos now. I was very happy with my doctor while I was pg and for my labor and delivery. I felt I received very good care. There was always someone there for me to talk to and I could get in if there was an emergency. If I had to page someone, they called me back within 15 minutes. This was very important to me. After my son was born, I had some major problems - with bladder infections/mastisis and possible ppd. I felt that the care I received during this time was less that great. Maybe it wasn't their areas of expertise, but I felt I was brushed off and was not referred to the proper specialists - all of this was related to the birth of my son. Would you choose a new practice based on this or switch? I would like to ttc #2 and have doctors in place should any of the above happen after I (God willing) have a baby. Just trying to find out WWYD? Also, drs office has evening/saturday appts and is 5 minutes from my office which are big pluses. Thanks so much for any feedback you can give me.

Re: Would you stay with your doctor?
Why don't you make an appt with some other drs & test them out. That's what I do. I am content with my dr but I always think there might be someone better.
Maybe you can stay with them for your pg & then switch for your after-care

Re: Would you stay with your doctor?
I have the same experiences with my doc as you. Had a great pregnancy experience, love all the dr's. BUT the aftercare there wasn't to my liking. I had a horrible birth and the after affects were brutal, and they weren't helping me either, i went there countless times over and over again for the same symptoms.
I finally demanded a referral, and that doc finally diagnosed my issues.
I am pg with #2, and i decided to stick with this practice, they are convenient to my house, affliated with the hospital i love, i love my dr's and i trust all of them. I figure, after this one i am done and i will be looking forward to seeing them once a year for my annual appt. I would rather right now stick with dr's who know me, and my history, then start looking for new practice.

Re: Would you stay with your doctor?
I left the doctor who delivered my first baby because of the same issues. WONDERFUL while I was PG, then, UGH!
The doctors who delivered my 2nd are WONDERFUL from the moment of conception (practically) through delivery, post-partum, and beyond. I am with them again this time.
I would say that it can't hurt to interview someone new. GL

Re: Would you stay with your doctor?
Thank you for sharing your experiences. It really helped to hear what others went through! I love one of the female drs there and maybe i will just plan on seeing her for my appts after I give birth. Thanks again!
