Would you take this opportunity? (Advice/opinions needed)
Long story short, I lost my PT job (I was doing HR for a catering company). They laid off tons of people and I was axed.
I now have an opp. to watch a 6 year old boy 2 days a week, 3 days a week every other week ....she pays $150 each week flat, no matter if its 2 or 3 days I'm watching him.
Now I know the extra $600 cash every month would be good. I just don't know the demands really of a 6 year old boy. On top of having a 9 month old I guess I'm nervous. It's only for the summer and I have a ton of baby/toddler/child experience but am nervous.
What would you do?

i think it seems like a good p/t job. 6 year olds can be kept entertained by being outside at a playground or games.

Have you met the boy already? I think it all depends on how he acts. My nephew is 6 and I would never want to watch him

You could get a sand/water table for your backyard or a small pool/sprinkler. He would have a blast. I would do it

No, I haven't met him. We are supposed to meet later this week. The job would start mid june. His mother describes him as "a very respectful, all around great kid who is easy to get along with".
But don't we all say that about our own? Lol!! This kid also has a baby brother who is around my sons age and goes to daycare...she said he LOVES being a big brother and would get along great with Johnny...

I would definetly do it - knowing how my son was when he was 6 - it sounds like an easy job - but thats my son.

totally depends on the child. a 6yr old can be a huge helper, and he can be a huge big baby 
but I think you can make it work if you can use the money. praise him/give him rewards for helping with baby in little ways, so he feels like a big boy, and have fun with it. and your baby will have a playmate!

Would you mind if I ask what 6 year old boys like best? Lol. I babysat my little sisters for years , but they were into dolls, going to the park, etc. I have to be able to do things with this child as well as care for my 9 month old.
I guess it'll be good training for when baby #2 comes along (not pg but thinking about it sometime in the near future!)

i would probably go for it... i'm not a mom yet, but i work in a school and have a couple 6 year olds on my caseload. i agree with the others that it totally depends on the child. a 6 year old boy can be so easy, OR they can just be the biggest baby/brat ever! LOL
i would wait until you meet the child and see how he is then decide.
as for what they are into- a lot of the boys i have are into video games, sports, bowling, any kind of active thing...

That is a generous offer for only two or three days. Six year olds are so much more self-sufficent that he may even help you.
I would do it in a heartbeat.
