Would you travel to Mexico?
I'm looking into a vacation in October and I was noticing how low the prices are for Mexico (Cancun). When I told DH he said there is a travel advisory to not go there so I doubt we will go there. But I was curious if people still travel to places when there is a travel advisory like that. I would think you would be ok going to a vacation destination like Cancun, but I guess I'm wrong?

We were going to go to Mexico this summer, but now we are thinking the Dominican Republic, just to be safe.

Re: Would you travel to Mexico?
Yes, I would. Actually, we did. We went right when the drug wars were escalatign and swine flu started spreading. The Cancun area is not near the broder, which is where it's dangerous. Once you're in the resort, there is security. Our resort had 3 security gates. I wouldn't go exploring other areas on my own, but I wouldn't let it stop me from going to a resort down there and even exploring the vacation hot spots.

Re: Would you travel to Mexico?
Yes, absolutely. The travel warning is focused on Juarez and Chihuahua, which are more than 1000 miles from Cancun. That would be like not leaving New York because there's violence in Alabama.

Re: Would you travel to Mexico?
Thanks! We actually called our travel agent and she said the same thing, it's more about the border issues. So anyone have any reccomendations as to where to stay in Cancun? Should we do all-inclusive? We're looking at Gran Melia and a few others.

The Royal is awesome...as per my cousin and her fiance! The pics looked absolutely amazing, and they said the food was actually good considering it was Cancun! They are all suites! Have you also looked into Cabo? They have some amazing deals going on right now...check into it!

Excellence Playa Mujeres in a roof-top room. The resort is amazing and the rooms are phenomenal. You get a private plunge pool on your roof with a few sunbeds. Def check it out.

Re: Would you travel to Mexico?
I would still go. My DH is nervous nelly and won't go with the kids until they're older, but I can't wait to go back to Mexico. We used to go every year before we had the kids.

Re: Would you travel to Mexico?
We went in December and had such a great time! We went to Riveria Maya which is a lot quieter than Cancun (which is what we wanted). We stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya. The price was great, the place was beautiful and the food was really good too.
We just booked a trip this morning to Punta Cana in December, can't wait!

Re: Would you travel to Mexico?
We're leaving for Mexico on Sunday! I wouldn't think twice about going the Mexico. All the problems really are not in the places people vacation in. We're going with our kids too. Not worried in the least.
