Would you use a co-sleeper mini crib (like arms reach) if there was a door from your room to the baby's? (also bfing) w/poll
So, DH was planning on putting a door from our bedroom to the nursery in the next room (otherwise there is a long hallway)
I was also registering for the arm's reach co-sleeper, which is basically a bed height small crib that stands right next to your bed and makes it easier to just grab the baby when it's time to eat (I plan to bf). I imagine changes would still need to take place elsewhere unless I keep diapers and the genie in my bedroom and change him in our bed- but that seems like it could end up gross...
But I am thinking I DON'T want baby to get used to this co-sleeper to the point where he doesn't eventually want to sleep in his room/crib. (I was planning on using the co-sleeper maybe for the first few months?)
So, now I am considering letting the whole co-sleeper go and just getting up and going in his room... I mean after all it is RIGHT in the next room!!
What do you guys think? I'm gonna xpost on parenting...

The first few months I think most parents keep there baby in the same room. They are way too young to get "spoiled" to where they wont "want to " sleep in their crib. KWIM.

i didn't EBF, but i would probably just go into the nursery. i had the bassinet and we loved having DD in with us, but when she was a tiny newborn, we were both off from work for 8 weeks (both teachers and she was an early summer baby). DH or I didn't have to get up early for work. I think for me it would depend on whether or not you getting up to nurse would really bother your partner. does he have to get up early? will he be helping with any feedings? even though she was right there, i ended up getting up anyway. it was hard for me to nurse in bed. i needed a chair with a strong back (this was just my preference, it made nursing easier for me, everyone is different.) Also, if she was getting a bottle (which she often did because my supply was terrible, i had to get up and mix the formula and warm the bottle anyway. also, i had all the diapers, etc. in her room anyway.
for me though, it was nice to have the baby right there. you are so tired in the beginning and they wake so often, it was handy to be right there when she needed me, but i still got up anyway. make sense?

I think you could use the co-sleeper for awhile in the begging. You are going to have to go into the nursery for changes though, so you could use the crib as well. I would prob use the crib, and just leave the door to the nursery open. Or just have DH wait to put the door on for awhile.

I'd still use the co-sleeper. DS's room is pretty much right next to mine as well, but when you're nursing, getting up 3-4x a night is difficult - no matter how close the room is.
ETS: I used the co-sleeper/my bed for the first 11-12wks and then started him in his crib. The transition was fine - it seems like it's always better than you anticipate it being.

With DS#1, we had him in his own room from the first night we brought him home. THe room is literally right next door to ours so it was not a big deal.
Since we only have 2 bedrooms upstairs, when #2 gets here in December, we are putting another crib in our room (but not a co-sleeper, a full sized crib on the other side of the room) until the baby is sleeping through the night, then the 2 DC will share a room.

I used the co-sleeper until DD was 3 months and she was getting too big for it. She transitioned easily at 3 months to her crib.

we will be using either a PP or a cosleeper in our room for the first few months. Our nursery is a walk from the bedroom

to be honest, after 2 weeks in the bassinet dh and i realized that we were more exhausted because we were both waking up with every feeding... so ds went into the crib and we never looked back..... then we were all getting rest and it made us a much happier family...
