wow and how many hours are in a day?
Long yes but I think people forget how busy lives can be even if you are childless. One of the main reasons of this board is to share our stories and here was mine yesterday.
My mom called me and said why haven't I come over (my parents want me over usually every other day or every three days for a visit otherwise they go bonkers) and I go i'm busy I will try for tomorrow and then I get "well you have no children why are you so busy" b/s well i finally unleashed my daily routine:
Wake up feed/change water of cat, turtles, fish. Get ready, clean liter box, go to work (all within a hour and half) 30 min commute, work 9-4:30 drive home 30 min commute (only take a half hour lunch), go home turn off turtle lights/check them, then clean water bowl and food bowl out for cat, do dishes (at least a half hour to do that), clean liter box, EAT, clean those dishes, prep lunches for myself, make breakfast for both of us, prep dinner for DH and then sit on the couch (oh my god) for 15 mins to then get up and play with cat 45 minutes, to do laundry, to go to the gym on the nights I do not have to cook (i cook 3 days worth of meals in one night if i do not do the gym) to come home to fold laundry, play with cat again and then wait for DH to come home by 10 (work OT 8am-10PM M-F, 9-5 S&S for the next two months) to pay attention to him to get to bed by 11:30 and then start all over.
OH and i have to clean the house too and try to do that on the weeknights. I also have to do house work inside and out since our house is a handyman special and i am trying to do the work alone or with limited help. SO finally she goes "my god, i guess i shouldn't hold my breathe on grandkids" Yea mom I don't want you to suffocate. LoL

This made me laugh. Maybe, now she'll understand that you can't get over there 3 times a week (honestly that would make me bonkers...LOL).
But I am always so surprised that people actually say "Well you don't have kids..." I am really lucky that I dont have people saying things like that to me.

You have no idea how often I hear "Well, you don't have kids.....", although less than I used to since we were out in the open about our IF issues, but I still get it.

This made me chuckle.
Do you really play with your cats every night for 45 minutes? And dishes for 30 minutes? IMO it seems like you maybe need to reevaluate things with your husband. Have him pitch in if he isn't helping with the cooking or cleaning. Do more prep work on the weekend too. I'm sure you can make time for your family and friends.

Re: wow and how many hours are in a day?
yep at least 45 mins of play and attention only because she is alone all day and i know she is miserable she is used to being outdoors and social and we adopted her in our home. We will get her a kitten soon but just not now.
we have no dishwasher so everything is by hand so it takes a long time for me to do dishes. Between cooking and dh eating late when he comes home i have TONS of dishes to do always.
I knew my husband's behavior prior to marrying him, he doesn't do much or limited amount of work which stinks but i had to accept it. He is responsible for the outside of the house and to assist me with cooking (which never happens unless its bbq/grilling) but when he is off and i am working i do not have to lift a finger. One of the main reasons i am not into have kids i can't handle even more work.

I really like what you said to her too! I always think of great replies like that way after the fact. When you can't just call up and blurt it out and then hang up.
Now that DH's job has changed, so did our house responsibilities. Admittedly, I am not as busy after work as I used to be when he was working in the city. But I'm the one who takes on the big projects.
The most recent one was finding a 2nd dog to adopt. I researched rescues, searched Petfinder, contacted the rescue, setup the home visit, filled out the application, put the money in the PayPal account, found out all the questions to ask, setup the meet-and-greets, got directions, packed a lunch, made the ferry reservations and the itinerary so we were there on time, handled the daily communication with adoption coordinators, foster parents, and administrators, signed the adoption contract, arranged the pickup, bought $300 worth of supplies on a website, going to Petco tonight to get the rest. I did all this in one week.
I could have done it half-@ssed but that's how you get half-@ssed results too. In addition, I've been dealing with extreme family drama I can't even go into but has been horrendous, working, and all the other things I do on a daily basis.
Thankfully though, my parents completely understand and at least one other familyi member does too (most of the time!). They respect me and thus, respect my life and choices. I feel pretty lucky in that.

Re: wow and how many hours are in a day?
I feel your pain!!!! My mom does that all week and then wants to be around all weekend. DH and I walk out the door at 5:45 am and back home at 5:45pm. DH has a serious illness so when he gets home it's meds, cleaning to keep all dust out, healthy dinners, making lunches for the next day, cleaning up from the mess THAT day, somewhere in between I find some time for a laundry and shower LOL It never ends!!!!
