Wow, it just hit me...
I am writing the dedication and acknowledgement sections to my dissertation and I am crying hysterically. It totally just hit me that I am weeks away from being done with the thing I have been working on for 8 years! I never thought this day would come!

That's exactly where I was a year ago. If my data collection didn't take so long, I probably would have been done sooner.
I was sort of superstitious abut the dedication. I didn't want to do it until I was pretty much done and I didn't want my committee to see it until the defense.
What are you getting your PhD in?
