Wow, THAT was easy!

We successfully have rid our house of wallpaper. It took less than an hour and every, single room (with the exception of Ava's bedroom) had wallpaper. If there is a wallpaper God somewhere, I thank her!
However, I think the adhesive crap is going to be our biggest problem. It's all gritty and all of our walls are really nice plaster. I'm a little scared as to how we're going to get them smoothe. ANyone care to tell me what to do?Chat Icon

Well, the good news is that the wallpaper came off so easily...I've heard horror stories!

As for the walls... that might be a problem. Not sure if you could sand them down, or if you'd actually have to spackle...?? (Not much help, huh?)

Re: Wow, THAT was easy!

My house was the same way when we bought it. Wallpaper all over the place and plaster walls. The wallpaper was so old it ripped right off. We then used DIF......I rolled it all over the walls with a roller then wiped it off with a big sponge and water. The glue came right off but since the walls are plaster they weren't really even so we are going to be having the sdownstairs skimcoated and the upstairs is getting fully gutted so we haven't even removed the ugly wallpaper.

that's great that the paper came off easily, as for the residue on the plaster I'm not sure what the best way would be.
Try searching DIY.com or HGTV.com for specific tips on dealing with plaster.
Good luck!

I would try DIF to get rid of the residue. We had a terrible time getting the wall vynal paper (yes you read that right Chat Icon ) off and we had to re-sheetrock. On the soffate their was some residue and the spackler told us that we either had to remove the residue or re-sheetrock that portion also because the plaster would not adhear correctly. So I would call either a painter or spackler and see what they recommend to do.
