WOW.. umm Imitrex!?!?
Soooo I am very prone to Migraines, and I decided to take my first Imitrex pill about 4 hours ago....
Lets just say.. it made me 10x worse before acutally getting better..
I was sick to my stomach, my face felt tingly, just not good and had to sleep it off...
did anyone ever feel this way from this!?!?!

NEVER! Sometimes what works for one doesn't work for another.Call your DR and tell him and try another brand.Feel better

I took this once and I had an outer body experience....was freaky!!! I was shaky and nauseous all day...and I still had the migraine!!

I get migraines too and I gotta say, some of those medications are scary stuff! If you read the possible side effects it is enough to make you never want to take it and suffer with the migraine.
Chest pains, serious heart related side effects, tightening of the chest?
Very scary stuff.

they all made me dillusional and pukey.

Stop taking it!!! right away.. ask for maxaolt(sp) it is a disolvable pill and does not have any really bad side effects like that. it works in about 15 min. and sometime you will fall esleep with it other times you can get right through it with out a nap. i hope you feel better

I've been taking imitrex for quite some time now- totally works for me(sometimes my arms get achy after taking it and it wipes me out for the day but has gotten rid of my migraines 95% of the time) You should not have those symptoms! Hope you feel better sweetie Migraines suck
eta...also...maybe the miligrams you took were too much

Some people just get side effects that others don't get
My DH got a steroid shot in his lower back a few weeks ago for bad back/leg pain that his pain management doc said would have NO side effects, and he could barely walk and had severe nausea, numbness, headaches, blurred vision for about 10 days afterwards.
I hate the fact that doctors don't tell you all of the side effects that meds can give, and that if you don't read up on the meds you wouldn't know beforehand how crappy some of them can make you feel.

I get migraines & tried Imitrex & thought I was going to have a heart attact when I took it! I felt so speedy & STILL had the headache!
Hated it.
My migraines are pretty bad though, so now I'm on a daily med to prevent them, it works wonders!!!!!

YES! OMG, the first time I ever took it I was out shopping and I had to hold on to DH b/c I felt like I was light headed and dizzy. Then I was getting hot flashes and my hands were ice cold I was feeling sick to my stomache from being dizzy. I decided then that I rather just suffer through the migraine rather than go through thtat again.

dh suffers from cluster headaches and if puffing on oxygen doesnt work to break the headache, then he either takes zyprexa or imitrex. both make him feel horrible.

I had the very same reaction. My body shook for two hours or so while it wore off. It made my head feel soo much worse. I had the Imitrex injection too and that was even worse. I'm sorry.

I had a problem with Imitrex as well...made the migraine feel worse, made my stomach queazy and made me feel lethargic (well that was cool but in combo with the other things I didn't like it so much). My doctor put me on another drug which was a 100 times better...haven't taken it in a while though so I am fuzzy on the name...it's an A something..Axert I think.

My honey. I take them for Cluster Migraines, and they work for my headache, but they make me feel like my heart is going to explode in my chest.

Do they know what causes them?
My mom used to get TERRIBLE migraines for years. They used to give her something for them I don't know what it was. She would be in her room with the shades down and a cloth on her head.
She finally came to the conclusion that it must have been hormonal (maybe an imbalance) b/c she stopped getting them after she started menopause(sorry if tmi)
