Writing Alphabet letters - What age do schools start?
My daughters nursery school does this already - the kids there are between 2.5 to almost 4 years old. I was amazed to see some kids writing alphabet letters and numbers pretty well. They also draw circles, triangeles etc..
DD will be 3 next month - just wondering when did your child start writing alphabet letters and numbers? I didn't think it started this early - but I guess its good practice for them.
Any good tips you can share. Do you also practice with them at home. Of course DD likes to scribble!

I just have to laugh because I thought you meant writing a letter to someone, as in "Dear Mom ...." I was thinking, wow, in NURSERY school?!

my DS is still way too young... but I recall my mom teaching me how to write simple words (mom, dad, cat, dog) when I was 3-4. She taught me proper handwriting when I was 6-7.... (but it was european style, so I had to re-learn it the 'correct way' when I was in school  )

Damien knew how to write most of his letters (upper case) by the time kindergarten started. He started learning when he was 3 and 4. Now he can write both upper and lower case. He comes home everyday with writing assignments (that he did in school) they work on letters everyday pretty much.

DD is learning her letters in school (identifying them by sight) before 2 1/2 years old. They'll probably start writing them in September when she's 3. She is young for her group. Any time she sees the letter A on a sign somewhere, she gets very very excited & starts screaming AAAAA!!

In DS school they started writing in the 2.5yr old room...
Currently the 4yr olds are reading...
So somewhere between 2-4 they learn to read and write.

By the end of his year in the 3-year old class, DS was writing both capital and lowercase letters. He could write the whole alphabet.
My DD is 2.5 ans she knows the alphabet and all the letters. However, she can't write them yet!
